But first, let’s have a look at the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Processor and how fast it is.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 865

Recently, Qualcomm has launched the new Snapdragon 865 Processor that comes with Adreno 650 GPU and has a 5th Gen AI engine.

Notably, Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 doesn’t come with an integrated modem but Qualcomm will sell the 5G modem along with the chipset. So far, the news is that manufacturers who plan to use Snapdragon 865 will have to also buy the 5G modem with the chipset.

The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 posted some impressive benchmark scores on the GeekBench.

Key Specs for the Snapdragon 865

  • Number of Cores – 8 Cores ( 1x Cortex A77) @ 2.84GHz, 3x Cortex A77 @ 2.42GHz, 4x Cortex A55 @ 1.80GHz.
  • CPU Cores:  Qualcomm® Kryo 585 CPU
  • Adreno 650 GPU with 587 MHz Clock Speed
  • Manufacturing Process- 7Nm
  • Supports DDR4 and LPDDR5 memory upto 2750 MHz
  • Single Camera Support upto 200 Megapixels

The Snapdragon 865 has a tri-cluster architecture and comes with a 1+3+4 arrangement.

Previously Qualcomm has released the successor to the Snapdragon 855, the Snapdragon 855 Plus.

The Adreno 640 was 20% faster than the predecessor, Adreno 630 and we can see a similar performance boost from the upcoming GPU.

Every year the new Flagship Qualcomm Processor debuts with the Samsung Galaxy S series. This year is also not going to be different and the first phones to come with the Snapdragon 865 will be S11, S11 Plus.

Geekbench Mark 5 Single-Core

Noticeably, Apple A13 and the A12 rules the single-core performance charts and is still over 30% faster than the Snapdragon 865. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 865 is ahead of the Kirin 990 and the Snapdragon 855 Plus in the multi-core score.

Undoubtedly, Apple is almost a year ahead of the Qualcomm Processors as far as the Single-Core performance is concerned. Notably, a lot of Apps and games utilize only a single core.

Also, Apple is going to release the new A14 chipset with the upcoming iPhone 12 in the fall which will be further ahead of these chipsets.

Notably, the Apple A13 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon tops the chart for the GeekBench5 Multi-Core test. Kirin 990 is about 12% slower in comparsion to the fastest processors from Qualcomm and Apple.

The Antutu Benchmark not only tests CPU but also the GPU Performance and gives a close estimate of the Real Life performance.

Furthermore, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 offers the fastest performance with a nearly 5.5 lakh score on the benchmark ahead of Apple A13 and the Snapdragon 850 Plus.

Lastly, the Snapdragon 865 is about 12% faster in comparison to Snapdragon 855 Plus based on the Antutu Benchmark Performance.
