Xiaomi Redmi Note comes in 3 colors Gold , Silver and dark grey. The starting price of 899 Yuan ($135 or Rs. 9200) for the 16 GB storage and 2 GB Ram variant. The 3 GB RAM variant comes with 64 Storage and is priced at 1199 Yuan (178 USD or Rs. 12,300). Other than the storage and RAM both the smartphones have same design and specs.
Design and Display – The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has a familiar metallic design and comes with brushed metallic finish with clear Antenna lines at the back of the device. There is no home button and the fingerprint scanner resides on the back of the device. Display – The new Redmi Note 4 offers 5.5 inch Full HD display (1920*1080)resolution with 401 PPI.
The display has 72% NTSC color gamut and 1000:1 contrast ratio. However the bigger addition to the Redmi Note 4 is the 2.5 D curve glass which will improve the plain looks of Redmi Note 3.
Performance – The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is powered by the 10 Core Helio X20 processor clocked at 2.1 GHz. The Helio X20 uses a tri-cluster architecture to improve performance as well as battery efficiency. The Redmi Note 4 has Mali T880 MP4 GPU for gaming and graphic intensive tasks. The smartphone as stated above will come with 2 GB RAM / 3 GB RAM variants.
As far as the benchmark performance goes the Mediatek Helio X20 scored 85,600 while the Snapdragon 650 used on the Redmi Note 3 scored 78,500, we can expect an identical performance from both the devices.
Camera – The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes with 13 Megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture , PDAF and Dual LED Flash. The smartphone has a 5 MP front camera with 85 degree wide angle to click selfies.
Connectivity and OS – The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has Dual Sim support and the second sim is a hybrid sim. You can either use the second sim or a micro-sd card slot. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 runs on the latest Android Marshmallow 6.0 OS along with the MIUI 8.0.
Battery Capacity – The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes with great battery life and has a large 4100 mAH capacity battery to last all day with moderate to heavy usage.
Weight & Thickness – The Xioami Redmi Note 4 comes with 8.35 mm thickness and has a weight of 175 grams. It is not one of the thin and light weight devices but we don’t expect that from a 4000 mAH capacity smartphone.
Overall the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 feels quite similar to the Redmi Note 3 and offers more storage for higher 64 GB variant, and a Curved 2.5D glass. Camera was one of the weaker points for Redmi Note 3 which will require some more time to actually understand if the Redmi Note 4 has improved optics compared to its predecessor.
The pricing is as aggressive as it has been ever with the Xiaomi smartphones and the Redmi Note 4 is also bound to success as is the Redmi Note 3.
