He Co-Chair, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has given about $30 billion since 2000, a fortune that is much larger than the net worth of Mr. Mukesh Ambani($23.7 Billion), the richest person in India.
Bill Gates started Microsoft with co-founder Paul Allen who is also one of the biggest contributors to the bill gates foundation.
He has been instrumental in fighting Smallpox, polio around the globe and the American education system has gotten an overhaul. Gates is not the only one responsible for the changes, but none of them would have happened without the help of the biggest philanthropist in world history.
