10.or E Unboxing Hands On Design, Experience and Benchmarks

There are several new Chinese mobile brands that have set shop in India recently like the Infinix, Comio, iVoomi, Nuu mobiles and 10.or (pronounced as Tenor).

The 10.or brand is part of the Huaquin Technology group and is based out of Shanghai, China. The 10.or brand has been working as an ODM (original Design and Manufacturer) for many years and has shipped more than 200 million smartphones.

The brand has launched their first mobile in India called the 10.OR E, it comes in two variants:

  • 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage – Price Rs. 8,999.
  • 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage – Price Rs. 7,999.

The mobile will be available from Amazon India to purchase, likely by the end of this month.

We have got the 10.or E (3 GB RAM, 32 GB Storage) version and let’s see what it has to offer. Also, I have done a video review and hands-on so will keep the text part brief.

10.or E Unboxing Hands

I have just used the phone for 2 days and this is based on the initial impression, will cover topics like camera and gaming performance in detailed review after some more testing.

Unboxing and Whats Inside the Box

The 10.or E comes with a purple-blue box with the brand name written in yellow color. Inside the box, you get the smartphone, micro-USB cable, and a 5V-2A charger.

There are no earphones supplied with the 10.or E.

Design and Display

The smartphone comes with the gold metallic finish and the body is made of poly-plastic. There is a front facing camera with 5 MP resolution and also has a dedicated front flash.

There are on-screen keys and the smartphone doesn’t come with capacitive touch keys or a home button. At the back, it sports the 13 MP camera, and there is a fingerprint scanner located at the back.

The speaker and micro-USB port lie at the bottom of the mobile.

The display is 5.5 Inch IPS LCD panel and comes with a Full HD resolution (1920*1080). Also, it has a curved 2.5 D glass on top of it but it stills look more flat compared to some other phones with a curved glass.

Further, the display comes with acceptable color accuracy and videos and text look good on it compared to most HD displays. But it is not the best display we have seen on the budget devices. The maximum brightness is not too much but is visible outdoors.

The build quality is average though the presence of a Full HD 5.5 Inch display in this price range is rare.

User Interface and Experience

When you boot the phone for the first time it asks you for an Amazon account and you can’t proceed without entering that. The smartphone comes with least amount of bloatware and it runs on the latest Android Nougat 7.1.2 version. The brand has also said the device will get the Android Oreo update.

It comes with the stock Android Experience like many phones from Motorola or even some of the recent Lenovo mobiles. There are hardly any pre-installed Apps which is a good thing, as you have the choice to install your favorite apps from the play store.

However, it has 10.or support App, Amazon Prime Videos, Amazon shopping and Google Apps pre-installed.

Overall user experience is smooth while browsing and reading in Chrome since there are very less pre-installed Apps resources are mostly free. The mobile comes with 3 GB of Ram out of which 1.5 GB is usually free.

Performance and Benchmarks

Powering the mobile is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 Processor and comes with the Adreno 505 GPU. The SD 435 is an Octa-Core 64 Bit processor and has a maximum clock speed of 1.4 GHz.

On the Antutu Benchmark, it scored – 45289

On the Geek Benchmark

  • Single-Core Test – 659
  • Multi-Core Test – 2366

Since it is an Octa-Core processor offers decent scores for multi-core test. The benchmark performance is as expected out of the SD 435 and the good processor helps in keeping thing smooth. However, the Amazon India listing says it runs on the Snapdragon 430 but the CPU Z shows it as SD 435, I have reached to Amazon to clarify it.

Fingerprint Scanner, Dual Sim, Calls

The Fingerprint scanner is placed at the back of the device and works as intended. It is accurate on 8 out of 10 tries and is not the fastest fingerprint scanners we have seen on some other devices.

10.or E Unboxing Hands

The good thing about the 10.or E is that it comes with a dedicated micro-sd card slot and have two more slots to add sim-cards. I added the Reliance JIO sim to sim-card slot 2, it was not working till I shifted it the slot 1. Strange, but it works in the slot 1 and mobile even has support for HD calls and VOLTE.

Call quality and volume from the speaker are just passable and I will add more details to this in the final review.

Camera and Camera App

Besides, it comes with a basic camera app. In fact, can be a good option for many users who just want to click pictures and be done with it. For others who want a lot of options and effects, this is not the camera app they would like.

It comes with some basic filters like B&W, Sepia, Aqua and so forth, there is also a beautify mode which has some basic settings. The camera App has an average app opening speed and the camera takes a bit to focus and capture.

The 13 Megapixel rear camera is not really bad in the initial testing but will take some more time to give more specifics.

The front camera is a 5-megapixel sensor which also has a front dedicated flash. More on camera samples in the coming days.

Concluding Thoughts

The 10.or E is a new brand and it has priced the smartphone aggressively. On the specs side, it offers a good processor, 5.5 Inch Full HD Display, 32 GB storage and 3 GB ram.

There is stock Android UI which is smooth. The smartphone also has dedicated micro-sd slot and comes with a large 4000 mAH battery. The build quality is average and based on initial testing it seems to offer good value for money.

The concerns are more from a new brand and after sales service perspective. We will do some more testing and share the final verdict in the full review, which I think I will be able to do in next some days.

Please share your thoughts or any queries which you have so I can test and share in the full review.
