Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has launched three new budget smartphones in India in less than Rs. 13000 price range. The new mobiles are part of the Y-series, named as Y27L, Y31, and the Y15s. Also, Vivo launched the impressively designed Vivo V1 and the Vivo X5 Pro a few days back.
These can be a good choice for people looking for a premium looking phone in the price range of Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 13,000. On the specs front, there are definitely some better options in the market.
The Y27L is available for Rs. 12,980 and the Y15 is the most affordable in the series and costs Rs 6000. Additionally, the Vivo Y31 costs Rs. 8,499.

Vivo Y27L Priced @ Rs. 12,980
For starters, the Vivo Y27L comes with Mid-range hardware specifications. It packs a Quad-core Snapdragon 410 64 Bit processor along with the Adreno 306 GPU for gaming.
The mobile offers 1 GB of RAM and runs on the Android Operating system.
Moreover, it has a 4.7 inch HD (1280*720 resolution) screen. The screen size may appeal to many buyers who are looking for a metallic good-looking smartphone under 5.0-inch screen size around Rs. 10,000.
The front camera on the Y27L has a 5 MP sensor which ensures good selfies. The rear side houses a square designed 8 Megapixel camera. Also, there is a speaker grill at the bottom left corner.
For storage, the phone has got decent 16 GB of internal space with the expansion of up to 128 GB through microSD card. Moreover, it runs on Android Kit-kat out of the box along with Vivo’s custom Funtouch OS 2.1 on top.
This may not appeal to many buyers looking for the Android Lollipop experience at least.
Powering the phone is a 2260mAh Lithium polymer battery enough to provide a day of backup.
Additionally, it comes with 4G LTE support ( FDD LTE 1800/2100 and TDD- LTE 2300 Mhz bands), along with the native support for the 3G and 2G network.
Notably, the mobile has 137 grams weight and measures 7.99 mm in thickness.
Lastly, it carries a metallic back cover and the metal edge plating is there around edges which make it look better than some of the poly-plastic made rivals. Overall a good looking but slightly weak on hardware muscle.

Vivo Y31 Priced @ Rs. 8,499
The Vivo Y31 runs on Android Lollipop 5.1, unlike the Vivo Y27 that ships with the Android KitKat OS out of the box.
Moreover, powering the phone is a Quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz. For gaming and graphics intensive tasks we have the Mali 400MP2 GPU.
Even, the Y31 comes with 1 GB RAM, similar to the Y27L. Likewise, the screen size is even similar and it comes with a 4.7-inch display, having a resolution of 1280×720 pixels.
For photography, we have an 8MP primary camera but the secondary camera Vivo has toned down to merely 2 MP camera in this mobile.
Additionally, we have 8 GB of internal storage space and it even has a micro-SD slot for further expansion up to 128 GB.
The Y31 got a slightly lower battery capacity of 2100 mAh in comparison to the Vivo Y27L. The smartphone weighs 134 grams and has 8.4 mm thickness.
Also, it has the native 2G and 3G support but misses on the 4G LTE support which may crucial for some of the buyers.
Moreover, it comes with some of the cool features like taking an image with gesture support, you can just show your palm to the smartphone and it will click the image. Even comes with a long screenshot option where you can click a very long screenshot if that is what you intend to do.

Vivo Y15s Priced @ Rs. 6,000
Next, we have the Y15s, the low end smartphone among the three. It is available for Rs. 6000. The affordable mobile has a 4.5 inch screen with a low display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.
Notably, it uses the MediaTek MT6580 and 1 GB RAM, similar to the Vivo Y31.
Furthermore, the Vivo 15s runs on Funtouch OS 2.1 (based on Android Lollipop 5.1) with its 8 GB ROM. The camera is 5 megapixels at the rear and 2 megapixels at the front.
egregiously, it doesn’t have 4G connectivity but still comes with basic connectivity options like Dual Sim 3G/2G, Wifi and Bluetooth 4.0.
What’s more, we have a 1900 mAh Li-ion battery, which may be just sufficient to last till late evening with modest usage.
Vivo is not looking to take on the likes of Xiaomi and Micromax as far as the battle for best specs smartphone goes, they plan to create their own niche by offering a smartphone to buyers with metallic build and premium finish.
