The new Vivo XPlay 5 Elite brings a fresh wave of specs war among the Flagship devices and yet again the Chinese company proves they are the best when it comes to raising the bar. The recent Flagship phones from Samsung and LG comes with 4 GB of RAM and a similar processor.
Specs and Details
For starters, the mobile runs on the latest monstrous processor from Qualcomm, the 64 Bit Snapdragon 820. It is a Quad Core processor with a clock speed of 2.15 GHz and comes with the Kryo Cores. Moreover, the Snapdragon 820 uses the Adreno 530 GPU that offers 40% improvement in GPU performance Vs the Adreno 430 used in the Snapdragon 810.
Another key highlight for the Vivo phone is the Dual Edge display like the Samsung S6 Edge. It has a 5.43-inch screen size. Further, the display has a 2K (2560*1440) P resolution which comes with an incredible pixel density of 541. Also, the screen is coated with the latest Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 to improve resistance to scratches.
Additionally, the phone offers an edge display along with quick launch icons. The metal unibody design with superior finish makes it a head-turner.
The rear side of the mobile has a speaker grill and a micro-USB port. However, the Elite does not come with the USB Type C charging port.
Camera, Battery Life and Storage
The camera is mounted above the antenna lines somewhat like the iPhone 6s and without any camera bump.
For imaging, we have a rear camera with 16 MP lens with Sony MX298 sensor. Also, It offers features like PDAF (phase detection Auto-focus) faster focus speeds, 6P lens, and F/2.0 aperture size.
Besides, the front-facing camera comes with 8 MP lens without a dedicated flash.
There is massive storage space, as we have 128 GB of inbuilt memory, however, there is no additional memory card support. The device has 4G LTE support along with Bluetooth V4.2 and WIFI.
It is sleek and will attract people looking for a stylish mobile, the thickness is 7.59 mm and it weighs 167 grams. The reason for higher weight is the large non-removable 3600 mAH capacity battery which is sufficient to power this beast for a full day of usage.
Furthermore, it runs on the latest OS from Google Android Marshmallow 6.0 along with the Fun touch UI 2.6. For audiophiles, it comes with the HIFI sound which provides immersive music experience.
Notably, the mobile goes on sale in China on March 8, and later on, will release in other markets. However, no fixed date is yet provided for the India launch.
It is great to have a 6 GB RAM mobile, at least it pushes the boundaries for the current generation of devices. You definitely don’t need 6 GB of ram while doing anything on a smartphone, including high-end games. Most of the smartphones these days are coming with 3-4 GB RAM and which is more than sufficient at least for 2 years.
Even 2 GB RAM is sufficient for a high-end device, and definitely, 6 GB is an overkill. Nevertheless Full marks to Vivo for raising the bar.
