Acer has many different series when it comes to gaming laptops. Firstly, they have the massively popular Acer Nitro Series; then, they also have the Acer Helios and the Predator Triton. One of the key highlights that separate the Triton series from Nitro or Helios is that it is lightweight.
In this article, let’s check out the latest Acer Predator Triton Laptops recently launched by the company and find out if they are worth buying. I will also try to list some of the cons and buying advice for the uninitiated.
You may find several different models of the Acer Predator series selling currently online and offline.
However, some of these models are outdated; and come with the Intel 8th Gen processors.
I would strongly recommend to buy the Intel 9th Gen or better to buy the latest Intel 10th Gen based Acer Predator laptops.
Besides, Acer has not launched any Ryzen 4000 series based predator triton laptop, at least in India.
If they launch some of the Laptops with the latest AMD Ryzen processors, we will surely list them on Candytech.in.
Let’s first talk about the Intel 10th Gen based Predator 15, and then we will check out another model with the Intel Core i7.
The Acer Predator notebook family’s new member PREDATOR 15, is a not so pricey, mean machine. It is available for Rs. 81,900 on Amazon India. The Predator 15 Triton is not heavy, like most typical gaming laptops. It weighs 1.7 Kg and easy to carry, and can even pass-on as a regular usage machine.
The Gaming laptop features a 15.6 inch (1080×1920) IPS, antiglare, high brightness (300 nits), Acer ComfyViewTM LED-backlit TFT LCD panel that supports the amazing 144 Hz refresh rate and a3 ms response time. The display is excellent for fast-paced gaming and will give you an edge over the rivals in games like Volarant or CS: GO.
Powering the machine is NVIDIA’s 1600 series of Graphics cards. It runs on the GeForce GTX 1650 Ti graphics card with 4 GB of GDDR6 VRAM.
Moreover, the laptop draws power from the 10th generation Intel Core i5-10300H Quad-Core processor with a clock speed of 2.5 GHz and a Turbo Boost Upto 4.5 GHz.
The Acer machine comes with a dust defender to keep your Gaming Rig clean and ensures crucial components run smoothly.
Additionally, it has 8 GB of Ram, can be expanded upto 32 GB, and even houses a 512 GB NVme SSD.
This gaming machine has Predator SoundPound 2.1 technology, with two speakers, a powerful subwoofer, and Dolby Audio, for incredible sound quality.
Further, it comes with an ergonomic Keyboard that offers superb accuracy, four customizable backlit zones, and programmable macro profiles. A number pad and dedicated macro button give you the control you deserve to win in any game. The trackpad is not too large and is located towards the left side.
For connectivity, it has two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, 1 USB Type-C port, 1-(USB 3.2 Gen 2), and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port. Also, it comes with the latest Wi-Fi 6 support that can be a big plus in a couple of years for using the high-speed network.
Lastly, the gaming notebook has got 59 Whr Battery and comes with a 180 Watts Charging brick.
Overall the Acer Predator 15 with the latest Intel 10th Gen processor, fast refresh rate display, and the GTX 1650 Ti graphics card looks like a good deal considering the price.
Acer has not shared how color accurate the display is but going by the trend; it is not going to be a color-accurate panel. But there are hardly any gaming laptops under 1 lakh that comes with a color-accurate panel.
Nevertheless, it is thin and looks great, if you are considering to buy a machine in 80 to 90k this can be a good option.
Next, we have the Acer Predator Triton that comes with the 10th Gen Intel Core i7 Processor.
The Acer Predator Triton with i7 is very similar in design and form factor to the above-mentioned Core i5 model. This version is available for Rs. 114,990 and yet not available on e-commerce stores. But you can purchase it from Acer offline stores and even their official portal.
Notably, the retail price or price on Amazon for this model will be close to Rs. 105,000.
The laptop comes in the black color poly-carbonate build and has got an ergonomic backlit keyboard.
It has also got the same 15.6 inches 144 Hz, 3ms response time display panel, and comes with WIFI 6 support, and has 59 WHr battery capacity.
The major upgrade to this machine is the presence of Intel Core i7 10th Gen – 10750H Processor. It is a 6-Core and 6 Threads processor with 12 MB Cache and offers 2.6 GHz base clock speed and 5.0 Ghz boost clock speed.
It is paired with the Nvidia GTX 1650 Ti Graphics card with 4 GB of GDDR6 VRAM.
Another big upgrade is 16 GB of Ram instead of the 8 GB on the previous model. You can also expand the Ram to 32 GB using the empty slot.
Further, we have a large 1 TB NVMe SSD for storing all the games compared to the 512 GB SSD on the Core i5 model.
Since we have the same graphics card and we can always install an additional 8 GB Ram on the base version (With Intel Core i5), the gaming performance will not be vastly different.
You can expect the Core i7 version to have close to 15% more FPS than the Core i5 model. For productivity tasks or creative work flow (using Adobe Suite of Products), you can get a lot of benefit from the 6 Core i7 Processor Vs. the Core i5 Processor.
For Gamers looking for an affordable gaming beast – the Core i5 Model is ideal, and for people looking to do more than gaming – the Core i7 version is the better choice.
