Samsung is now updating its entry level smartphone segment with the release of the Samsung Galaxy J1 Ace Neo smartphone.
Samsung have been playing with its flagship and mid-range devices for a while, but now it turned its focus towards the entry level smartphone segment with the recent launch of the Samsung J2 2016 and the J1 Ace Neo. The Ace Neo is yet to launch in India it’s official pricing is yet not know, we can expect it to launch in the Rs. 600o to Rs. 7000 price range.
The Galaxy J1 Ace Neo comes with a 4.3 inch screen with a resolution of 480*800 pixels, the smartphone’s display is AMOLED so it will have better color reproduction and sharp display despite of its low resolution.
The smartphone is powered by a 1.5 GHz Quad core Spreadtrum SC8830 processor (similar to the Samsung J2 2016) and the mobile comes with 1 GB of RAM. For storage the J1 Neo comes with a 8 GB internal memory and supports expansions through micro SD card. The smartphone will run Android Lollipop 5.1 out of the box.
The camera section comes with a 5 MP rear sensor, which also includes autofocus and LED flash, for the front there is a 2 MP camera.
Connectivity features includes 4G LTE data support, Wifi and GPS. The Samsung J1 Ace Neo comes with a mediocre capacity 1900 mAh the battery but it will be enhanced by Samsung’s ultra-power saving mode.
Though it’s an entry level smartphone, the pricing won’t be less than Rs 6 thousand. The smartphone is listed on Samsung’s South African website, so the smartphone may be intended for countries with lesser smartphone penetration and specially the developing countries like India, Pakistan , Sri-Lanka , Brazil and Bangladesh.
If Samsung release the J1 Ace Neo in India they would need a very competitive pricing. As the current smartphone market is filled with feature rich smartphone like those of YU, Xiaomi, and Coolpad.
Moreover local brands like lava, Micromax could offer the same for less than 5000 INR. Though the quality standards of those devices would differ from Samsung, people these days are leaning towards Chinese devices for their attractive spec sheets.
The smartphone itself have several drawbacks like, lack of Dual SIM slot, older Android version, and low screen resolution, so the smartphone may not be attractive to buyers except a few brand conscious people. But the Galaxy J1 Ace neo would be a solid smartphone for those who use smartphones just to get the basic job done,
