Lenovo is coming with a new affordable yet powerful smartphone – Zuk Edge. The smartphone will offer flagship performance for a low price.
Lenovo successfully launched their Zuk series in Indian market with Zuk Z1. Their current flagship, “Zuk Z2 Plus” has grabbed a lot of attention due to it aggressive price and impressive specs.
Now they’re all set to release their new flagship named Zuk Edge. Renders of this smartphone have been doing rounds for quite a while. Finally there’s an official release schedule given by Zuk’s CEO, Chang Cheng via his Weibo account. The launch is said to happen in the coming week.
Recently the spec sheet of Zuk Edge was revealed on TENAA certification. It is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. The Snapdragon 821 is clocked at 2.35 GHz and comes with Kryo Cores and is made by 14 Nm process. The processor offers 10% performance boost over the Snapdragon 820 processor.
The phone comes in 2 ram variants 4 GB / 6 GB ram. The smartphone will have 2 storage options 32 GB & 64 GB.
Samsung introduced the world to the term “Edge” , with the S6 Edge. We were expecting Zuk Edge to have a curved edge display but some of the leaks suggests otherwise. The Zuk Edge sports a rather industrial boxy look. With solid metal frame sandwiched between glass front and back. It has minimalist side bezels but not perfectly a bezel less display, like on Xiaomi Mi Mix.
The Zuk Edge comes with a 5.5 inch Full HD (1080*1920) pixels display.
Previous Zuk smartphones have not come with expandable storage and we can expect Zuk Edge to follow the tradition.
The Zuk Edge flaunts a 13 MP rear camera and there is a 8 MP front selfie camera. To entice the audiophiles Zuk Edge comes with a 24-bit/192kHz audio DAC along with the 3.5 mm audio jack.
Unlike its sibling (Z2 Plus), the Zuk Edge will sport a rather standard 3000 mAH battery pack. It’ll support fast charging through the USB v2.0 Type-C port.
Zuk Edge will run Android marshmallow 6.0.1 along with their own ZUI 2.0 skin on top.
The pricing and the availability of the phone is still kept under wraps and will be unveiled in the coming week. Its is rumoured to be available in 2 standard color options, Black and White.
Overall the phone seems to be having a regular set of flagship spec sheet. Lenovo has been aggressive with the Zuk series pricing and we can expect an affordable Flagship device to compete with the One Plus 3T and Xiaomi Mi5s Only the pricing will decide whether the phone will have an “Edge” over its competitors or not.
