At the ongoing Computex in Taipei (Taiwan), Asus has launched the new ZenBook Pro UX550.
It is not only a power horse but also sleek. I think these are the two essential requirements that everyone wants in modern laptops.
For starters, the new Asus ZenBook Pro UX550 comes with an incredible 4K Display with 3840*2160 pixels resolution and a 15.6 Inch screen size. There are low bezels on either side of the display, another requirement we have from modern laptops.
Further, the Laptop is powered by the performance grade Intel Processor Core i7 7700 HQ offering a base clock speed of 2.8 GHz, and Boost speed upto 3.8 GHz.
The Processor is based on Quad-Core architecture and comes with 8 threads and 6 MB Cache. There is also another model of UX 550 that comes with a more humble, Intel Core i5 7300 HQ, offering a base clock speed of 2.5 GHz and boost clock speed upto 3.5 GHz.

Further, it has up to 1 TB PCI-E based SSD, and upto 16 GB of DDR4 RAM with 2400 MHz clock speed.
Besides, the UX550 boasts of excellent graphics performance with the latest Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti (with 4 GB DDR5 VRAM).
The 7th Gen Intel Kaby Lake processor and the Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti makes it an ideal laptop to own in 2017 for gamers as well as content creators like me.
You will get an enhanced performance whether you are playing the GTA 5 or Witcher 3 or even when you are editing a video on Adobe Premiere Pro. Notably, it is not heavy weighs just 1.8 Kg and has a thickness of 18.9 mm. The powerful notebook is easy to carry and can be easily carried on a business trip. Or even if you want to give last minute touches to your presentation on a flight.
Related – Asus also launched an ultra-thin ZenBook Flip S with 10.9 mm thickness.
Connectivity, Battery and Features
The Laptop comes with HVEC support, which can speed up processing and editing of the high-resolution videos. Further, it has USB Type-C for connectivity and the HDMI 1.4 Port for connecting to an external display.
For keeping things cool under high workload, there are dual cooling fans. As we know, the problem with most sleek performance laptops is heat management, since the amount of heat produced by top of the line hardware is hard to manage by cramped cooling solutions. Asus is trying to minimize this issue with the better cooling system.
Aforementioned, the Asus ZenBook Pro UX550 comes with the 4K display and even has 7.6 mm thick bezels, with 72% NTSC color gamut and 178-degree viewing angle.
On the flip side, the UX 550 misses on the numeric pad that is usually present on the 15.6-inch machines, and it also misses the essential SD card slot.
However, the large glass trackpad and Harmon Kardon speakers ensure that the laptop offers great user experience. Also, there is a backlit keyboard with 1.5 mm key travel.
Nonetheless, the UX550 comes with a fingerprint scanner and even has fast charging support, likewise, the ZenBook Flip S.
Lastly, the Windows 10 powered UX550 promises 12 hours of battery life that is amazing considering the high power components and sleek design.
Price and Availability
The Asus ZenBook Pro UX550 is priced at 1299$ or Rs. 90,000 and will start shipping in late July 2017. The laptop may get launched in the Indian market soon.
