The Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra got unveiled on May 31st at Computex 2016 , in Taipei , Taiwan. The smartphones got launched along with the Zenfone 3 and the Zenfone 3 Deluxe and there was a cute looking robot Zenbo. Now Asus has launched the Zenfone 3 ultra in the Indian market. The smartphone carries a hefty price tag of Rs. 49,999 in the Indian market. It is infact more expensive than the Samsung S7 edge or HTC 10.
Asus with the Zenfone 3 series have significantly increased the quality of the smartphones and at the same time the pricing has been eye watering.
The Zenfone 3 Ultra comes with a modern design , with esthetic design and a very large 6.8 inch display. It is more of a phablet compared to the Asus Zenfone Deluxe which has a 5.7 inch display and the Asus Zenfone 3 which comes with 5.5 inch display.
The Zenfone 3 Ultra boasts of an all metal aluminum build , and boasts more of invisible antenna lines, a feat which is yet not achieved by Apple or Samsung. The new Zenfone Ultra comes with immaculate design , crafted with diamond cutting tools to provide smoothest finish and finest fittings.
The bottom grill has Dual 5 Magnet speakers with a built in Nex Amplifier that offers loud and clear sound. There is a reversible type C port at the bottom of the device for connectivity and a headphone jack at the top. There is a home button too at the front which is shaped more like the Samsung Home buttons and the camera placement at the back with circular dial is more like we have seen on an iPhone 6s.
The fingerprint scanner is located at the back of the device, making one wonder why it is not there if we have a home button at the front side.
The Zenfone 3 Ultra weighs 233 grams but has an ultra thin body with 6.88 mm.
The Zenfone 3 Ultra comes with 6.8 inch IPS LCD display with FHD (1920*1080) resolution, protected with Corning’s Gorilla glass 3. The screen to body ratio is phenomenal 79%, and display also has the Asus Truvivid technology and blue ray filter for protecting eyes.
The phablet runs on the Android Marshmallow 6.0 along with the ZenUI.
The Zenfone 3 Ultra has a 23 Megapixel rear camera similar to the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe which comes with trifocus – laser , PDAF and Continuous focus technology. The rear camera comes with Optical image stabilization, 0.03 second laser focus and f/2.0 aperture lens.
The front camera is a wide angle 85 degrees 8 Megapixel shooter to take some incredible selfies.
The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.8 Ghz and comes with Adreno 510 GPU. The Zenfone 3 Ultra comes with 3 GB RAM and 4 GB RAM versions and has a variable storage space of 32 / 64 /128 GB. It also has support for the Micro-sd card upto 200 GB and comes with 100 GB of Cloud storage from Google.
It is a Dual sim device and comes with 4G LTE support for both the Sim cards. The smartphone has a massive 4600 mAH capacity battery and comes with fast charging feature.
The Zenfone 3 Ultra is priced at $609 in the US market, but the price in India is terribly high @ (Rs. 49,999).
