ZTE has launched the new Nubia Z11 Mini S in India and the key highlight of the smartphone is it’s 23 Mega Pixel Camera.
The smartphone is launched to counter the recently launched Motorola Moto G5 Plus which boasts of exceptional camera for the price.
The new Z11 Mini S will be available in Khaki Grey and Moon Gold color options. It’ll be exclusively sold on Amazon for Rs 16,999 from 21st March 2017. The Nubia series are a sub-brand of ZTE similar to Honor being the sub-brand of Huawei.
A month ago, they had released an entry-level smartphone ZTE Blade A2 Plus with massive 5000 mAH capacity battery, priced at Rs 11999, exclusive to Flipkart.
The Z11 Mini S is a new edition to the line-up, which is an improvement in all sections when compared to its siblings.
The phone looks very elegant and is one of the most good looking phone under the 20K budget. It flaunts an all metal uni-body design, without any plastic covers usually found to improve antenna reception.
Instead it sports iPhone 7 like antenna bands on the top side.
The back looks clean with only the Nubia branding, Rear camera with a red ring, protected by Sapphire lens and accompanied by a fingerprint sensor.
The overall form factor looks sleek and ergonomic enough to use with one hand.
The 5.2 inch FHD (1920*1080) display is protected by Corning Gorilla glass. It also has a 2.5D curved glass on top along with the Nubia signature red home button.
It uses off-screen navigation buttons and are thankfully backlight.
It’s driven by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SOC and 4 GB of RAM. That’s the similar combo found on many phones like Moto G5 Plus, Redmi Note 4 and Vivo V5 Plus, Moto Z Play.
The 4 GB of RAM is teamed up with 64 GB of internal storage, which certainly can be expanded upto 200 GB by using the hybrid dual SIM slot. Moto G5 Plus comes with a dedicated SD card slot.
Key Highlight Nubia Z11 Mini S – 23 Mega Pixel Rear and 13 MP Selfie Camera
The Z11 Mini S fights for the title of best camera mobile Under 20K title. The one thing which every Nubia phones have focused on, is the camera section. They’ve been able to deliver great optics in their smartphones and Z11 Mini S is no slouch either.
There’s a 23 MP rear camera with fast Auto focusing system to fix on objects in a mere 0.1 sec. The 23 Mega Pixel rear camera comes with a Sony IMX318 Sensor with an f/2.0 aperture lens.
The Lens on the Moto G5 Plus has f/1.7 aperture and can absorb more light. Also the Moto G5 Plus camera supports 4K video recording while it is not supported by the Nubia Z11 Mini S.
The Nubia Z11 Mini S camera comes with Sapphire Glass protection similar to iPhone which prevent it from getting scratched. The 6P camera lens promises superfast hybrid focus and PDAF.
The front flaunts a 13 MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and 80° wide angle lens to capture a group selfie as well. The lens used in the front camera is by Sony – SONY IMX258 Exmor RS sensor to ensure blur free selfies.
The camera also comes with Skin retouching option.
Powering the Mini S is a decently sized 3000 mAh battery.
Unfortunately, it comes with a 7.5W charger and doesn’t support any kind of fast charging through its USB type-C port at the bottom.
Operating System and Special Features
Egregiously, it still ships with Android Marshmallow v6.0.1 with Nubia UI v4.0 on top. It’s rather strange as we’re near to the end of Q3 of 2017 and still some OEMs are shipping phones with Android M instead of latest Nougat.
Though the Nubia Z11 Mini S comes with the Nubia Ui 4.0 which offers some additional features like:
- Nubia Fit 2.0 – Offers you to use the edge of the screen to reduce or increase volume and switch Apps.
- Split Screen Feature which is already baked in the Android Nougat 7.0.
- Can use 2 accounts on the Nubia Z11 Mini S for using social media Apps.
- You can take the long screen shots and can also do the screen recording on your phone.
At the price point of Rs 16,999 the Mini S is priced efficiently by ZTE. It’s a worthy smartphone and is a true rival to the newly released Moto G5 Plus.
