Microsoft Lumia 638 Launches With 4G Support
Microsoft has launched the world’s cheapest 4G Mobile in India named as Microsoft Lumia 638. The Microsoft Lumia 638 is priced at Rs 8300 and available exclusively at Amazon.in. After the rebranding of Nokia Lumia series to “Microsoft Lumia,” Microsoft launched its second Lumia device followed by the Microsoft Lumia 535.
The phone is available in China and pre-order opened in India recently. The Microsoft Lumia 638 runs on windows phone 8.1 comes with a 4.5 inch IPS LCD screen having a resolution of 480×854 pixels (218 ppi) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection; the phone has on-screen soft keys instead of hardware capacitive keys.
Powering the phone is a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor coupled with 1 GB RAM. The internal memory of the phone is 8 GB and its expandable up to 128 GB through external SD card. The Lumia 638 has a 5-megapixel autofocus camera. Unfortunately, there is no L.E.D flash and a front camera which is a little bit disappointing.

Verdict: Cheapest 4G Mobile Microsoft Lumia 638 Price 8300
The most significant Pro for the Lumia 638 is the availability of 4G capability in a budget device. The screen resolution is basic with 480*854 resolution and 218 Ppi. The smartphone is available for an attractive price of Rs. 8300 lacks some of the essential features like flash support and lack of front camera.
The advantage of having a 4G phone can be limited in India with the very slow rollout of 4G network by telecom companies. The mobile has to support up to 128 GB via external micro SD card.
Telecom companies may have rolled out 4G in some selected cities, but still, a huge population yet has to see the blazing fast 3G network. Also, cost of 3G and 4G data is a critical factor in the success of such phones.
Overall a 4G feature alone does not add too much value and is offset by lack of front camera and flash support. If you want Windows mobile and least bothered about front cam and Flash you can purchase the Lumia 638.
Update on Windows Phone
Microsoft has already given up on the Windows Phone, and we no longer recommend that anyone buy a Windows phone. Why you should not be buying a Windows phone – You can read my article on Windows Phone is Dead – Microsoft Pulls the Plug.
Also, there are fantastic choices available to buy both for Android as well as iOS-based phones like the Xiaomi Redmi 4, Mi A1 or the Moto G5s Plus or 10.OR G which you can consider in the sub 15k budget.
Additionally, the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s and iPhone 7 also are available at a lower price now since Apple has launched the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. These can be excellent choices when it comes to picking up your next phone.
