The price for the new Zenfone 5Z in India is aggressive, and the company is gearing to take on Oneplus and Huawei (Honor 10) which are quite popular in the 30k to 40k price segment.
With the launch of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Asus has changed its pricing strategy from premium to affordable. A difficult lesson for the brand in India, and comes after the launch and failure of expensive phones like Zenfone 3, Deluxe Ultra, etc, in the market.
Indian buyers want value for money offering, and Xiaomi has proved that how a brand can become a leader in this market playing the price card rightly.
Asus has learned its chops, and now it is time for some action in the high-end segment. I have asked Asus for a review unit, and most likely we will post a detailed review for the new Zenfone 5Z in the coming days.
