What Has Changed – Last year in August 2015, Samsung launched its flagship phone in the Note series named ‘Galaxy Note 5’. Similarly, a few days ago ( on 2nd August 2016) Samsung added one more smartphone in the Note Series dubbed as ‘Galaxy Note 7’. The Samsung Note 5 was launched in August 2015 while the Samsung S7 Edge was launched in March 2016.

Since many consumers were having a confusion regarding the name of Galaxy S series and Note series. Samsung has skipped a digit (Note 6) and go right with Note 7 name for the new Note, to make it look in line to the S7 and S7 Edge.

Design 

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 measures 153.2 x 76.2 x 7.6 mm and weighs 171 grams. S7 Edge measures 150.90 x 72.60 x 7.70 mm and weighs 157 grams. Moreover, the Note 7 measures 150.90 x 72.60 x 7.70 mm and weighs 169 grams.

Note 5 and Note 7 offers S Pen stylus and they both retain looks of Note device whereas you don’t get S Pen Stylus with S7 Edge. Further, the Note 7 is a waterproof smartphone with IP68, unlike older Note 5 s mobiles.

Display 

The Galaxy Note 7 and Note 5 sports 5.7-inch display with 2560 x 1440p resolution whereas S7 Edge flaunts 5.5-inch display with the same resolution.

Most Noteworthy thing is that Galaxy Note 7 is the first smartphone to use Gorilla Glass 5 protection on its display with Super AMOLED screen.

Also, the Galaxy Note 7 has a Dual curve edge display like the S7 Edge which was not there in the Galaxy Note 5.

Performance

Powering the Note 5 is a 2.1 GHz octa-core Exynos 7420 processor whereas Note 7 and S7 Edge are powered by 2.3 GHz Octa-Core Exynos 8890 processor or a Snapdragon 820 in some of the countries.

All three of them comes with 4 GB RAM. Also, latest leaks suggest a new variant is on the cards for Note 7 which will come with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Software

Moreover, the Note 5 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop but it can be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow whereas Galaxy Note 7 and S7 Edge runs on Android Marshmallow out of the box. Also, Samsung has tweaked the UI on the Note 7 to have a better user experience.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 sports 16 MP Rear Camera whereas Note 7 and S7 Edge sports 12 MP Rear Camera. All three of them have 5 MP for selfies. The Galaxy Note 7 and S7 Edge have a really improved camera with f/1.7 aperture lens and capable to take great images in all light conditions. Simply the camera on both the devices are best in the market even when compared to iPhone 6s.

Storage

The Galaxy Note 5 and  S7 Edge has 32 GB internal storage whereas Note 7 has larger 64 GB internal storage. You can add additional storage space using the micro-sd card up to 256 GB and 200 GB in the Note 7 and S7 Edge respectively. Besides, the Note 5 has fixed internal storage and it can’t be expanded.

Battery and Connectivity

Lastly, the Note 5 and Note 7 offers 3000 mAh and 3500 mAh battery respectively whereas S7 Edge offers 3600 mAh battery.

For connectivity, all of them offer 4G support, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.
