The latest Flagship smartphone from Coolpad is the COOL S1.
Another Chinese mobile that offers a bang for the buck. LeEco and Coolpad have merged the business some time back and the combined entity has been launching new devices.
They’ve been consistently releasing mobiles under brand name COOL. The first phone released was named as Cool and now the company has released a flagship mobile.
Till date Coolpad has been selling entry/mid-range mobiles in China & India, this might be the first smartphone to break that.
It looks generic and resembles the LeEco Max 2 at least from the back. The front of the device resembles more to the Oppo F1s.
Notably, it has a metal Uni-body design. The mobile has a mirror finished fingerprint sensor located at the back, similar to the LeEco phones.
The Cool S1 has released in China in 3 variants :
The base variant for CNY 2,499 (approx ₹25,000) for the 4 GB variant and CNY 2,699 (approx ₹ 27,000) for 6 GB & 64 GB variant and finally CNY 3,199 (approx ₹ 32,000) for 6 GB & 128 GB variant.
The phone directly competes with its own LeEco Le Pro 3 and other competitors such as ONEPLUS 3T, XAIOMI MI 5s & recently launched Zuk Edge.
The phone flaunts a 5.5-inch FHD display with 2.5 D Curve glass. Moreover, it comes with the latest 2.35 GHz Qualcomm MSM8996 821 processor coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. There is a whopping 6 GB of RAM with the higher variant. The presence of 821 chipsets, makes the COOL S1 one of the fastest phones out there.
Cool S1 has phenomenal flagship performance and affordable Price
The phone flaunts a 16MP rear camera with single LED flash, PDAF, 4K at 30fps and Electronic image stabilization. Although, the phone misses out on OIS.
The Sony IMX298 sensor is the same sensor that is used in OnePlus 3T and Xiaomi Mi 5.
Furthermore, the front side of the Cool S1 houses an 8 MP selfie camera.
It runs on Android Marshmallow with Leeco’s EUI 5.8 skin on top. The mobile also impresses with its massive 4070mAh battery which is plenty for hard-core users.
Also, it supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charging 3.0, along with the USB Type-C port.
Taking cues from HTC, this time LeEco and Coolpad have focused on the audio department in the COOL S1. The phone boasts two front-facing speakers from Harmon Kardon ( known for its excellent sound quality).
Also, it comes with AKG earphones which otherwise costs 999 YUAN (approx 10,000) as per Coolpad. The iPhone 7 syndrome makes Coolpad leave out the 3.5mm jack, similar to what they have already done with the LeEco Le2 and Le Max2.
The mobile has necessary connectivity options like Wi-Fi, 4G/LTE, VOLTE, GPS, Bluetooth v4.1 and even the NFC.
The phone is available in 3 color options, Silver, Gold, Black in China, and if Coolpad has its way they may launch the new shiny phone in India in 2017.
