Coolpad has launched the new Coolpad Max smartphone which is priced at Rs. 24,999. A big leap in terms of segment and pricing for Coolpad which is known for launching smartphones with best specs and very low price. ( Coolpad Note 3 Lite and recently launched Coolpad Note 3 Plus).
With Coolpad Max they are changing the strategy and launching a smartphone which is premium looking, has Dual OS, offer 2.5 D curve glass and superior metallic finish. It has an iPhone 6s like design and also a very big price tag.
It is always difficult to break the image of being low cost, which Coolpad marketed and created in the market for the brand.
The highlight for Coolpad Max is Dual OS which comes with Android multi-user feature and allows you to have two profiles running on smartphone. Which means you can keep Dual accounts for WhatsApp and Facebook on the same phone, may be a professional and a personal account. It comes with BiLogin tech which makes the phone more secure by using encryption.
The smartphone runs on the Android Lollipop 5.1 and Cool UI 8.0.
The smartphone looks gorgeous with 2.5 D curve glass comes in gold and rose gold color, with curved aluminum alloy bead blasted finish. The Coolpad Max has a thickness of 7.6 mm and has a weight of 170 grams.
There is a circular fingerprint scanner at the back which Coolpad boasts can unlock the device in 0.1 seconds, that’s fast.
The smartphone comes with 5.5 inch IPS LCD display with 1920*1080 resolution and a pixel density of 401. The display is protected by the Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 and has oleo-phobic coating to reduce fingerprint marks.
The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. It is not a very powerful processor and is also found on newly launched Moto G4 Plus. Though the smartphone comes with abundance of Ram, it has 4 GB Ram to ensure faster multi-tasking. The Adreno 405 GPU is good for playing games on the FHD display.
The Coolpad Max comes with 13 Megapixel camera with Samsung ISOCELL 3M2 CMOS, 6P sensor and has a f/2.0 aperture along with PDAF. The front camera is a 5 MP shooter.
Storage & Connectivity
It has incredibly large storage of 64 GB which oddly has a expansion support of just 32 GB via micro-sd card. Most premium devices support upto 128 GB storage via micro-sd card. The smartphone has Dual sim support along with the 4G LTE connectivity.
The smartphone comes with a 2800 mAH battery capacity and has support for fast charging and comes with 2A charger.
The smartphone looks really stunning and has a lots of similarities in design with iPhone and the HTC A9. Large storage, Dual OS can be something which may attract buyers but at the same time a mid range processor may be a deal breaker for many. In this price range it competes with the Xiaomi Mi5, Google Nexus 5X and the One Plus 3.
