Oppo Reno 10X Zoom Specs and Top Features
- 10X Hybrid Zoom Lens
- SD 855 Flagship Processor
- Amoled Panel With In-display Scanner
- Large 4050 mAH Battery With VOOC Charging.
Key Specs and Details
Oppo Reno 10X Zoom comes with a unique fin shape swinging front selfie camera that is hidden when not in use.
The pop-up selfie cameras are becoming more common in 2019 and several phones like the Oneplus 7 Pro and the Redmi K20 Pro are offering it.
The Reno 10X Zoom has a unique implementation of the pop-up selfie camera that comes with a 16 Megapixel lens with f/2.0 aperture.
The highlight of the device is the triple rear camera setup that offers upto 10x zoom. There is a primary 48 MP Sony IMX 586 sensor that we have seen on several other devices like Oneplus 7 Pro or RN7 Pro.
Further, it has 48MP F1.7 + 8MP F2.2 + 13MP F3.0 triple rear camera assembly that allows you to click wide-angle, portrait and zoomed photographs with exceptional details.
The rear camera comes with a 6P Lens and has Dual OIS support which helps to reduce noise in low light conditions and improve stability in videos.
The camera is capable of recording 4K 60 FPS videos.
Design and Display
The Reno 10X Zoom looks fantastic with the full view display and comes with a glass back design having a matte finish.
Further, the device comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 to make it more durable. The phone is a bit bulky and comes with 93 mm thickness and has 215 grams of weight.
The Reno 10X Zoom comes with a large 6.6 inch AMOLED display panel with 2340 by 1080 pixels at 387 PPI. It is nearly bezel-less and offers a 93.1% screen to body ratio.
Overall design and display are pretty impressive and ideal for media consumption and gaming.
Powering the device is the top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Processor that comes with Adreno 640 GPU.
Oppo Reno 10X also comes with copper heat pipes for improved cooling and has Game Boost 2.0 for reducing the lag in graphics-intensive games.
Aforementioned, it is available in 6/8 GB Ram variants and has 128 GB/ 256 GB UFS 2.1 internal storage. (Unlike Oneplus 7 Pro that offers UFS 3.0 storage).
The Oppo Reno 10X Zoom comes with a massive 4065 mAH capacity battery along with the VOOC fast charging support.
OS and Other Features
The low point for me when considering the Reno 10X is its OS. The phone comes with the COLOR OS 6.0 along with the Android Pie update. The OS is not as minimalist like the Oneplus Oxygen OS and many buyers may want to go for the Oneplus mostly because of the OS and experience.
Further, The Oppo Reno 10X comes NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual Band GPS, In-Display Fingerprint scanner and Dolby Atmos for a superior sound experience.
There are Dual Sim and Dual VOLTE support and it comes with the USB Type C port. However, it also lacks the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Oppo Reno comes with some similarities but there are certain areas where it compromises.
The phone comes with a similar display and design but is slightly thinner 9.0 mm and weighs 185 grams.
Considering it comes with a slightly lower battery capacity of 3765 mAH and a slightly smaller 6.4 inch display.
Powering the device is the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 Octa-Core processor and the Adreno 616 GPU.
We have seen the same processor in the Oppo Realme 3 Pro which costs Rs. 13,999.
Further, the camera comes with a dual-lens setup and has 48MP F1.7 + 5MP F2.4 without OIS. The front camera is the same on both phones.
Apart from these other features like OS and connectivity options are similar to the Oppo Reno 10X Zoom.
Considering the high price point of Rs.32,999 the Oppo Reno is a big let down due to the following reasons:
- Mid-range processor (SD 710) instead of SD 855.
- No OIS or Zoom Lens.
It is difficult to recommend the Reno at the current price as it will be better to buy the Oneplus 7 with SD 855 at this price point.
On the other hand, the Reno 10X zoom is a good option, considering we can’t recommend the Huawei P30 Pro currently due to the Android Ban.
The P30 Pro and the Reno 10X are the only phones that come with the Zoom lens if that is what you want in your next phone.
Lastly, between the Oneplus 7 Pro and the Oppo Reno, the former is a better choice due to a much better display and OS experience.

India Launch Oppo Find X
The Oppo Find X costs $1155 in the US or Europe and is launched in India today for a price tag of Rs. 59,990. The phone was launched at an event by the company and was also showcased on youtube live.
The mobile will go on pre-orders on Flipkart starting 25th July and will start shipping to customers from 3rd August 2018. The smartphone comes with a massive 8 GB Ram and 256 GB internal storage.
Also, the Lamborghini Edition of the Find X was shown at the event but no details are shared if they will launch it in India.
Oppo Find X – Future is Here
We have seen many radical design changes in the last couple of years in smartphones. To change the cosmetic appeal, the manufacturer doesn’t shy away from eye-candy experiments.
Whether we talk about the Nokia 7500 Prism handset that came with catchy triangular keys and eye-catchy geometric patterns or the Nokia N73 that hid its camera module behind a slide; phone designs are constantly changing.
Decades of technological improvements have got us from having a visible external phone antenna to a bezel-less edge-to-edge display and wireless charging.
Fast forward to the current scenario, and we have Oppo Find X. Weeks after the Vivo’s phone with in-display fingerprint scanner Vivo X21- a new type of device with a pop-out selfie camera hit the market dubbed as Vivo NEX.
And now, Oppo has introduced the Flagship smartphone for 2018, Find X in the market. Interesting part!!! It has hidden cameras !!!
The OPPO Find X was unveiled at an event at the Louvre in Paris on 19th June, and the company also unveiled a new Lambhorgini Edition Find X.
The Oppo Find X features a new type of camera mechanism. This allows for a motorized slider having the camera setup to pop out of the phone. Moreover, both rear and front cameras are on the same piece of the slider.
Also, according to Oppo the camera system works pretty fast and can come out in as little as 0.5 seconds. You can watch the below video to see the camera module in action.
Apart from a uniquely placed camera, the phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with Adreno 630 GPU, and 8 GB of RAM with 256 GB of internal storage expandable up to 400 GB.
The unique camera system of the Find X boasts of dual 16 MP (f/2.0) + 20 MP (f/2.0) rear camera that comes with PDAF and optical image stabilization along with a dual-LED dual-tone flash.
Whereas, for selfies, the pop-camera slider features a massive 25-megapixel (f/2.0) front shooter.
The phone has an enormous 6.42-inch AMOLED full-screen display that comes with a 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD+ resolution, and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display is curved and edge-to-edge with minimum bezels similar to the Samsung S9 plus.
It comes with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and has an incredible 93.8% screen to body ratio. Thanks to the hidden front camera’s it comes with a full-screen display similar to the Vivo Nex that comes with the pop-up selfie camera.
The mobile runs on Android’s 8.1 Oreo version along with the custom ColorOS 5.1 skin on top of it. Apart from that, it gets fuel from a 3730 mAh battery and supports the company’s VOOC Flash Charge.
Highlights of Oppo Find X
- Pop-up camera module for front and rear setup
- 42-inch Full HD+ AMOLED bezel-less display
- Snapdragon 845 processor, Adreno 630 GPU
- 8 GB RAM, 256 internal storage
- Dual 16 MP + 20 MP pop-up rear cameras with OIS and PDAF
- 25 MP selfie pop-up camera
Special Features – O- FACE
Since a fingerprint scanner is nowhere to be seen on the Find X, the phone relies on a newly introduced technology called O-Face Recognition.
As per Oppo’s claims, the new technology utilizes a 3D Structured Light Technology featuring recognition of 15,000 facial dots for reading the user’s face.
For night time, an infrared sensor does the work, which seems similar to what iPhone X offers.
Oppo Find X Lamborghini Limited Edition
Aforementioned, Oppo has also launched the new extremely luxurious Find X Lamborghini Limited Edition along with the standard edition. The phone costs USD 1970 (nearly 1.3 lakhs) and comes with 512 GB internal storage.
Also, it has a carbon fiber back cover, instead of the glass back on the standard edition and comes with the 3D Lambhorgini logo. The new Special Edition Oppo mobile is the answer to the limited edition Huawei Porsche edition phones such as the Huawei Porsche Design Mate 10.
Also, the limited edition Oppo Find X comes with Super Fast Charging technology that Oppo calls “Super VOOC Flash Charge.”
It can charge the device from 0 to 100% in just 35 minutes as it comes with a 10V / 5A (50W) SuperVOOC charger. The rest of the specs for the Lambhorgini Limited Edition is the same as the standard edition.
Although we have seen some changes in camera setups and their design with the passage of time, Oppo Find X is another refreshing change. By adopting a motorized slider for the cameras, the whole mechanism feels super cool and futuristic. Nonetheless, It comes with its disadvantages.
Some of the drawbacks of the sliding camera mechanism are as follows:
Firstly, the phone gives away the fingerprint scanner in favor of a much slower face unlocking technology. Although the Oppo advocates that its newer technology makes a face unlocking faster and reliable, it is still far slow in comparison to a fingerprint scanner.
As per Oppo, the camera takes about 0.5 seconds to pop out, and that’s a big delay if we consider the fingerprint scanners that can unlock the phone in 1/10 of that time.
Also, the fingerprint scanner remains the better option for unlocking since it doesn’t require you to raise the phone to your face when it is resting on a table. Or to bend and use your face to unlock the device.
Moreover, the phone case manufacturers will have a tough time figuring out the design for the cases. A single piece of mobile cover will have to be flexible to go with the pop-up camera module yet protect this expensive phone from drops.
Also, moving parts are unreliable and more prone to failure. Lastly, it will have some impact on the battery life too since the motor will use the power for the pop-up mechanism.
Vivo Nex, on the other hand, has a better solution at least with an in-display fingerprint scanner that doesn’t require the cameras to come out each time it is required for unlocking.
I may sound a bit over concerned here, but anyway, to sum up, I find the new Oppo Find X quite fascinating and significant step forward in mobile design.
Price and Competition
Lastly, Rs. 60000 price is pretty steep and there may be many buyers who would purchase it even paying the eye-watering price.
The flagship market is fierce with phones like Samsung S9+, Huawei P20 Pro, iPhone X and Google Pixel 2XL which are hard to ignore when shopping for a new phone.
Also, Samsung is launching the Note 9 in August and many buyers may want to wait for a couple of more days before offering the purse to Oppo.
It comes with some innovation that people might either go with or condemn the whole form factor completely.
