GEARS OF WAR 4 PC Configuration SPECS To Run The Game Smoothly
Changing management and developing hands during sequels inception, The Gears of War franchise is now in hands of previously known Black Tusk Studios (now, Coalition Studios) who was working on an unannounced new IP which never saw the light of day. But of course, a new Gears of War sequel is all the reason to rejoice.
It’s a bitter truth, but Microsoft needs a win on their old long-standing franchises and new IPs if they wish to compete with Sony’s varied genre game approach and with recent tumbling steps with new IPs, Gears of War 4 is definitely hoping to end the drought spell for Microsoft, even if it’s not a new IP.
Gears of War 4 is not a reboot. The Story picks after Marcus Fenix has descended into a legendary status, where people has erected statues in his honor, and the mantle of the main protagonist has fallen on his son, James Dominic Fenix and 3 new companions.
Finishing the Alpha Multiplayer build just some weeks ago, the final system requirements for the final build is out today, but be warned – they’re crazy.
As Gears of War reintroduces to PC after staying away for 8 years, it requires a hefty PC to get those graphics. Though at first not clear which resolution these Specs are aiming for, further digging finds out the Minimum is 1080p, Recommended is 2160p and Ideal is for 4K.

Intel Core i5 processor as the minimum is asking much for only 1080p (no confirmation of FPS for those resolutions). And 80GB as required hard disk space is definitely a lot. Not to forget the inevitable patches that will further this figure. And required SSD for getting Ideal Graphics at 4K.
Personally, it is not clear to me whether the high system requirements are the asking price for a 4K graphics or is it just a problem with making this a UWP application. This game will not be available on Steam.
Though Quantum Break recently did come out on Steam but we can speculate that reason to be unfavorable sales and second party developers. It is not clear if Gears of War 4, made by Microsoft’s first party studio, will ever come out on steam. It is likely to remain a Windows 10 / DirectX12 Exclusive game and would require the latest Windows 10 Anniversary Update to run.
