Gionee A1 Mobile Offers 16 MP Selfie Camera and 4000 mAH Battery

Gionee A1 Boasts of 16 MP Selfie Camera

Gionee has unveiled the new Gionee A1 mobile today in the Indian market and the device boasts of a 16 Mega Pixel front camera and also a large size battery (4000 mAH).

With selfies being a rage in the country and everyone looking for selfie phones, the battle of best selfie mobiles is heating up.

Recently, Oppo launched the Oppo A57 and Vivo introduced a new Vivo Y66 in the market, to meet the demands of selfie lovers.

Gionee A1 Mobile

Gionee doesn’t want to stay behind and has announced the new Gionee A1 in India.  The brand focuses on offering bit premium devices at even more premium price.

Besides, they are not really competing with the like of Lenovo or Xiaomi with aggressive pricing. It is though rather odd that they have not announced the Price for the Gionee A1.  The smartphone will be available for pre-booking on 31st March 2017 and will likely go on sale in the First week of April.

For starters, it comes with a premium metallic build with two visible antenna bands at the back. The rear camera is slightly protruded and below it is a smiling Gionee Logo. The Front side has an oblong shape Home button which also carries the fingerprint scanner.

Gionee A1 Display, Performance, and Camera

The mobile comes with 5.5 Inch AMOLED Display with Full HD resolution (1920*1080) with 401 PPi.  Further, the A1 also comes with a 2.5D curve glass coating on top of the display. It is not known if Gionee is using a Corning Gorilla glass coating.

Powering the mobile is an Octa-Core Helio P10 processor and the 4 GB RAM.

The key highlight of the smartphone is the 16 Megapixel front selfie camera. The front camera comes with fixed focus and has a f/2.0 aperture lens with 5P lens elements.

There is a selfie flash which Gionee says spread the light on subjects face to improve the facial complexion and add glow. Another way of saying it has Moonlight flash that Vivo has been marketing for long.

There is also an advanced Beauty mode which detects the user’s face and automatically applies the beauty settings smartly.

Also, the camera comes with bokeh selfie feature to blur the background and focus on the subject only. Selfie wars are getting hotter…. The real competition for this phone is the Vivo V5 and the Oppo F1s and F1s Plus.

The rear camera is standard with 13 Megapixel Sony IMX 258 sensor with Dual LED Flash and Auto-focus support.

My goodness, The Gionee A1 mobile runs on the latest Android Nougat 7.0 update instead of the dated Android Marshmallow.

Additionally, there is Gionee custom UI Amigo 4.0 to enhance the user experience.  The mobile comes with 64 Gb of internal storage expandable up to 256 GB using the micro-sd card.

It is not very sleek and measures 8.5 mm in thickness and weighs 182 grams. That is bulky even for a 4010 mAH battery capacity mobile. Notably, it has fast charging support and comes with an 18 W charger which can charge the device from Zero to 100 % in just 2 hours.

The Dual sim device comes with 4G LTE and VOLTE support along with the traditional 3G and 2G connectivity options. Moreover, will be available in Black, Gold and Grey Color options.

Pricing Update

Gionee has shared the price and it comes at a price tag of Rs. 19,999 in the Indian market. Gionee and cheap price doesn’t go hand in hand. We were also expecting a price tag of 20K from Gionee.

A couple of days back Gionee has unveiled the Gionee M2017 with a 7000 mAH battery capacity and priced over Rs. 150,000.

    • Moto G5 Plus is a good deal for the money and has a better rear camera, on the other side the Gionee A1 has great display larger battery and a much better selfie camera. Choose the one which you think is more suited to your usage 🙂

    • No Gagan it is decent processor and A1 works fine a complete review is on the way. Scores close to 50K on Antutu while the 625 chipset used is slightly better in G5 Plus. Overall the A1 is a good excperience and decent selfie camera and great display.
