Gionee is one among the brands which are touting the selfie-centered smartphones to cope up with the trend. The brand launched two smartphones at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona earlier this year- Gionee A1 and A1 Plus.
Both the smartphones are selfie-centric ones and offer a decent selfie camera. In March 2017, the brand launched the smaller Gionee A1 in India for Rs. 19,999. We have already covered the review of the product and was pretty impressed with the selfie camera. Today they have launched the bigger variant Gionee A1 Plus in India priced at Rs. 26,999.
The Gionee A1 Plus will be available in the retail stores starting 26th July 2017 and may also go on sale online soon.
The A1 Plus has better hardware than the Gionee A1. In fact, it is the company’s first dual camera smartphone. The A1 Plus is already available in some countries, while only the Gionee A1 is available in India at the moment.
Gionee started teasing the smartphone on its social media handles, and some YouTubers have already acquired a unit of the A1 Plus from the local retail stores, meaning the device will be sold offline as well.
First Gionee Dual Camera Phone – Gionee A1 Plus
The smartphone is priced at Rs. 26,999 which is Rs. 7,000 more when compared to the Gionee A1. This is a decent pricing for the phone, but there are other options in the similar price range such as Moto Z2 Play, OnePlus 3T, etc. But all of them lack the dual camera at the back, which the Gionee A1 Plus has. It will also compete with the Oppo F3 Plus in this price range which has a Dual front-facing selfie camera.
The Gionee A1 Plus comes with a larger 6-inch screen compared to the 5.5-inch screen seen on the Gionee A1. However, the resolution of the display is unchanged, meaning it has the same 1080×1920 pixels resolution with 2.5D curved glass and Corning Gorilla Glass protection on top.
The A1 Plus runs on Gionee’s Amigo UI 4.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The Amigo UI comes with a host of customizations and features, which is very much expected.
The device is powered by the MediaTek MT6757T Helio P25 octa-core chip, which is clubbed with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The native storage is expandable up to 128 GB via a hybrid microSD card slot.
The USP of the Gionee A1 Plus is the dual camera setup at the back which has one 13 MP sensor and one 5 MP sensor. The rear camera has support for f/2.0 aperture, phase detection autofocus, and LED flash. Gionee also added a 20 MP front-facing camera which also has f/2.0 aperture, 1/2.8-inch sensor.
The smartphone has connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 801.11 ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and USB Type-C port.
Lastly, the phone comes with a large 4550mAh battery with fast charge technology as well. One of the key highlights of the smartphone is an “18W” charger which the company claims can charge the Gionee A1 Plus in a matter of 2 hours.
To top the offerings, Gionee India has announced a two-year warranty for the Gionee A1 Plus.
Gionee will sell the A1 Plus in both offline and online market in India. But Gionee has not shared by when the device will start selling online.
