Gionee M5 Plus Mammoth Battery & Large Display Smartphone Available Now

Gionee has launched its new mid-range smartphone M5 Plus in India today (on Flipkart) with large battery pack and an even larger display. The Gionee M5 Plus was launched in China back in December 2015.

The smartphone is available in Polar Gold and Champagne Gold variants and comes with massive 64 GB of internal storage.

Gionee M5 Plus Mammoth Battery & Large Display Smartphone Unveiled

The M5 Plus is an improved version of the Gionee M5 smartphone and its the latest addition to the company’s “Battery centric Marathon range.” The Gionee M5 plus packs a mammoth 5020 mAh battery and comes with a 6.0-inch display.

Previously the Gionee M5 came with dual battery setup that summed up to give 6020 milliAmp hour capacity, now the M5 plus comes with a slightly lower capacity in a single battery pack.

Gionee also added the much-wanted Fingerprint sensor to the smartphone which was missing on the Gionee M5.

Gionee also made claims about the battery’s cycle life, which says the battery can provide 600 charge and discharge cycles before dropping to 90 percent of its actual charging capacity.

The smartphone can be used for several years without the need for battery replacement. If this turns out to be right than buyers are in for a treat as regular smartphone batteries drop charge holding capacity after 300-400 cycles and after 1.5 – 2 years of use they feel like giving up.

The smartphone’s screen comes with a Full HD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 368 PPI.

Gionee included a physical home button embedded with a fingerprint scanner, front placement of fingerprint sensor makes it more convenient to use, compared to a back mounted sensors, especially on a 6.0-inch device.

Gionee says that the placement of the fingerprint scanner was made to the front based on the feedback received from the users.

The rear camera comes with a 16 MP sensor, and the front camera is a Selfie Pro shooter with an 8 MP sensor at the front.

The smartphone is driven by a 1.3 GHz Octa-Core MT6753 Processor along with 3 GB RAM. The processor is a mid-range power horse and can deliver excellent performance along with the bundled amount of Ram. It is the same processor used in many smartphones like the K4 Note and the Coolpad Note 3 Plus.

There is a lot of space, and you can store a good number of movies and videos utilizing it’s 64 GB internal storage, and it also comes with a memory card slot if that is not enough space.

The smartphone runs on Android lollipop 5.1 with Gionee’s Amigo 3.1 customization on top. Gionee did some tweaks on the software front to improve the battery life even further to give two days of battery life.

The smartphone was priced at Rs 26,999 which is expensive considering the Gionee M5 Plus features, but then Gionee has never followed the low-cost, high specs strategy.
