Gionee has launched a new high end smartphone priced at Rs. 23,999. The Gionee S6 Pro was originally launched in China back in June 2016 for CNY 1999 (Rs. 20,200), and we predicted that it will launch in India for Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 24,000.
The smartphone comes with 5.5 inch Full HD display (1920*1080) resolution and 2.5 D curve glass. Display also has Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The build looks really premium and robust with a design which is quite similar to the Huawei Honor 8 or the Gionee S6. There is a oblong shaped home button at the front and there is a tiny speaker grill at the top of the screen.
The back side dawns the new smiley logo from Gionee below the circular camera and there are visible antenna lines. The smartphone will be available for purchase in Gold as well as Rose gold color variants. There is a fingerprint scanner which is embedded in the home button on the front side which Gionee claims is one of the fastest they have ever shipped with ability to unlock the device in 0.1 seconds.
The Gionee S6 Pro is powered by the Mediatek 6755 64 Bit Octa-Core processor, clocked at 1.8 GHz (more commonly called as Helio P10), and there is 4 GB of ram to take care of all multi-tasking needs. The smartphone runs on the Android Marshmallow 6.0 along with the Amigo 3.2 skin on top.
The other key highlight of the smartphone is it’s camera capabilities. The Gionee S6 Pro comes with 13 Mega pixel rear camera with fast auto focus system and phase detection auto focus technology. The camera can click decent images and can also create GIFs.
The Gionee S6 Pro rear camera comes with Dual LED flash and camera supports night mode, panorama mode, burst mode, magic focus to take decent images. There is also an 8 MP rear camera which can click wide angle selfies and group selfies with ease.
The Gionee S6 Pro is sleek and has a thickness of 7.6 mm and weighs 170 grams which is not too much for a 5.5 inch device. The Gionee S6 Pro is powered by 3130mAh battery that deliver up to 39 hours of talk-time and standby time of up to 558 hours. Practically it can work all day without need for a charge.
Gionee has been following a very unique strategy as far product launches are concerned in the Indian market, they are present strongly in mid range mostly in the price bracket of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000. Company is not competing in starting range of below 8K or premium segment above 30K.
The Gionee S6 Pro offers 64 GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 128 GB using a micro-sd card. Notably the smartphone also comes with modern USB type C port for connectivity and charging.
The The Gionee S6 Pro has 4G LTE as well as VOLTE support and will work with all major Indian telecom operators. Gionee has also launched their first VR Headset along with the Gionee S6 PRO priced at Rs. 2499 and will also go on sale starting 1st October 2016.
