Gionee W909 Specs, Price and Launch Details

Gionee W909 is the new Flip phone which has got launched in China today and comes with one of the best specifications that have ever come in a flip phone. Whenever I see one of these flip phones or clamshell phones reminded me of the Moto Razr.

In the old days when Motorola ruled regarding style and design and was considered the hottest smartphone to have.

Let’s just drift a little backward in history and remember the Moto Razr which got launched in the August of the year 2004.

The smartphone was the thinnest clamshell phone ever made, and the advertisements featuring David Beckham were too enticing for youngsters to resist. How cool the mobile looked in those days with a sleek design.

It was thin & edgy, marketed as the coolest sleek looking smartphone you can own.

We never thought about specs, who manufactured the processor or how much was the pixel density. It was all about cool looks with a good VGA camera and the satisfaction of owning a smartphone which probably very few could afford to buy.

Launched in 2004 the Moto Razr was the most iconic smartphone Motorola ever made and is the most sold device with 130 million phones sold between 2004 and 2007. It was before iPhone was launched by Steve Jobs in 2007.

Clamshell phones were Uber cool and stylish and pleasure of closing the smartphone after the call was purely divine.

Still, miss how cool was the Moto Razr at that time and how revolutionary and disruptive was it’s designed in those days.

Good old days for Motorola, but they failed to up their game with 3G and touch screen phones which were done better by Apple, Samsung and LG from 2008 to 2012.
