Huawei Honor 9X and 9x Pro were launched in China on 23rd July 2019 and there is a good possibility that these will soon come to India.

Moreover, Huawei’s troubles are receding with the lift of ban by the Donald Trump administration.

Huawei has seen a massive drop in sales after the Android Ban, impacting the company outlook and jeopardizing its mobile business.

But with Chinese President Xi Jinping reaching a settlement with Donald Trump. The US has allowed Huawei to do business with native companies, and things are now returning to a normal state.

Honor 9X and 9X Pro – Release Date in India

Huawei is planning to launch the new Honor 9x and 9x Pro successor to the Honor 8X. We are expecting Huawei to launch the new Honor mobiles in August in India.

Notably, the Honor 8X was launched last year in October, but this year we can see the new device launching a few weeks earlier.

Honor 9X, 9X Pro – Specifications

The Huawei Honor 9X has a new truly bezel-less design, and use the voguish pop-up selfie camera that we have seen on several phones like the Oneplus 7 Pro or the Realme X.

The phone offers a large 6.59 Inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio with FHD+ (2340*1080) resolution. The mobile comes with an IPS LCD display and has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Honor 9X and 9X Pro with a glass build and have a gradient finish design. Further, the phones are a bit bulky due to large battery and measures 8.8 mm in thickness and weigh 206 grams.

Performance – Kirin 810 (Honor 9X and 9X Pro)

The most prominent upgrade is the new Kirin 810 Octa-Core processor which the company has unveiled recently. Notably, the Kirin 810 is manufactured using the cutting edge 7 Nm manufacturing process, similar to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (flagship processor).

The Kirin 810 uses two performance (Cortex -A76) Cores with a clock speed of 2.24 GHz and comes with six energy-efficient (Cortex-A55) cores with 1.55 GHz clock speed.

The Kirin 810 is 20% more energy-efficient as compared to the previous Gen Kirin 710 Octa-Core processor. The processor is coupled with ARM Mali-G52 MP6 GPU that offers superior performance than the Adreno 618 used in the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730.

Another, key highlight for the Kirin 810 is the ability to outperform the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 in both Antutu and Geekbenchmark scores.

The Kirin 810 is faster than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, 712 or even the Snapdragon 675 which are currently used in most mid-range phones from Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, and Realme.

For Honor 9x and 9X Pro, there will be 6 GB /8 GB of  DDR4 ram to ensure lag-free user experience. Huawei is also planning to unveil the EMUI 10.0 with GPU turbo Boost 3.0 to provide better gaming performance.

Lastly, the Kirin 810 boasts of a new NPU (Neural Processing Unit), which makes it one of the fastest chip for onboard AI processing. Huawei, even claims that it is faster than the SD 855 when it comes to AI tasks.

It is noteworthy that Xiaomi is launching the Redmi K20 (SD 730) and Realme is launching the Realme X (SD 710), which will be slower than the Honor 9X.


For Photography, both devices come with impressive cameras and flaunt a 16 Megapixel motorized Pop-Up selfie camera.

Notably, the 9X Pro comes with triple rear cameras with a 48MP primary lens, likely a Sony IMX 586 sensor that we have seen in several other phones.

Furthermore, the secondary cameras are an 8 MP shooter, and a 2 MP depth sensor.

On the other hand, the Honor 9X offers Dual rear camera setup with the  48 MP primary camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor.

Battery Life

The new Honor mobiles are expected to come with 4000 mAH battery capacity. Also, the 9X Pro will have 22.5 Watts of Fast Charging support whereas the standard version will have a 10 Watts Charger.

Other Features, Price in India and China

Also, both devices will come with the EMUI 9.1 and Android Pie 9 with 64 GB/128 GB storage options. There is USB Type C Port and even the 3.5 mm headphone jack is present, fortunately.

The price in China for the Honor 9X starts at CNY 1399 (Rs. 14,000) for the 4 GB Ram and 64 GB storage version. The 6 GB Ram /64 GB storage version costs Rs. 16000 and the 6 GB / 128 GB version is available for Rs. 19,000.

On the other hand, the Honor 9X Pro costs Rs. 21,999 for the 8 GB ram and 128 GB storage and Rs. 24,000 for the 8 GB ram and 256 GB storage option.

The Honor 9X is available in Black, Blue, and red colors. Whereas, the Pro is available in phantom blue and midnight black colors.
