HTC One M9+ Launched for Rs 51779 on Flipkart

Finally after long wait HTC has launched the new HTC One M9 plus on Flipkart for a price of Rs. 51,779. A  premium price to pay for the latest Flagship from HTC. It is a real surprise that HTC has skipped the launch of earlier revealed HTC One M9 and instead launched the HTC One M9 +. We will discuss why HTC might have done that later in the article. Let’s first explore What’s new in the HTC One M9 +.

Design

It has the best possible built quality you can find on any smartphone. With brushed aluminium design it has stunning looks. The all silver metallic frame of the smartphone make it look superior to it’s rivals. HTC has created a uni-body design with smooth contours and edges. The build and finish is exceptional. The chrome gold plating on the edges makes the smartphone look even more beautiful. The edges for HTC One M9 plus are ergonomically tapered to fit in your hand easily.

The smartphone measures 151 x 72 x 9.6 mm and weighs 168 grams. The thickness is higher compared to the iphone 6 which measures 7 mm in thickness.

Camera

HTC One M9+ has a decent camera with 20 MP + 2 MP dual rear shooters.  The dual camera helps in capturing better pictures and controls the amount of light lens uses, in the low light conditions. It help to reduce noise in low light images. HTC One M9 does not have the Dual rear camera.

The rear camera is 20 MP Duo with Sapphire cover lens, Auto-focus , BSI sensor, f/2.2, 27.8mm lens, 4K video recording capability.

The front camera has a wide angle lens (26.8 mm) 4 MP (HTC Ultra Pixel), BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture size. The camera can record 1080 P videos and click group selfies with excellent clarity.

OS and HTC Sense & Features

HTC One M9 plus runs on Android Lollipop the latest operating system from google and will get future OS updates (Android M). The HTC sense UI 7.0 is intuitive and makes the user experience better with home screen and notifications customization. Pre- installed HTC theme lets you control each and every aspect of your smartphone with ability to customize your icons, wallpapers , display image and much more. HTC One M9+ also has a 100 GB cloud storage on Google Drive.

“The new finger print scanner option to unlock the device is the coolest feature on the HTC M9 +.”

Display & Sound

The HTC One M9 was launched with 1080 P display but HTC has improved the display on the HTC One M9+. HTC One M9 Plus features a 2K (2560*1440) pixels resolution screen. The pixel density on the screen is incredible 535 PPI. The screen size is ideal 5.2 inches, I love smartphones with 5-5.25 inch screen size as they feel comfortable in hand and easy to grab and use. Bigger or smaller sized smartphones are difficult to operate.  The screen used in the One M9+ is IPS LCD 3 screen with Corning Gorilla glass 4 protection. Even if the screen is scratch resistant, I would suggest you to buy a screen guard with the smartphone.

The HTC Boom Sound is present with large front speaker grill on the HTC One M9 plus, the beats and drums sound better with the HTC dual speakers. HTC also uses noise cancellation feature which improves the quality of calls and reduce background noise.

Storage

The storage on the HTC One M9+ is 32 GB for the version,  listed on Flipkart priced at Rs. 51,700. HTC M9 plus storage can be expanded to 128 GB using a micro-sd card. I would recommend to buy only class 10 memory card for better performance with the smartphone.

Connectivity

HTC One M9+ supports 4G LTE connectivity and you will be able to stream youtube videos on the gorgeous screen using the high speed network.  The smartphone also has standard connectivity options like 3G/Edge/ WIFI/Bluetooth and USB OTG support.

Performance

The HTC One M9 + is powered by the latest Media Tek Helios X10 processor. The Helios X10 processor is a 64-bit Soc with 8 Core (Cortex-A53) clocked at 2.2 GHz. The processor supports screen refresh rates upto 120 Mhz compared to 60 Mhz on standard smartphones. Also supports the super slow motion camera effects like we have seen in the Apple iPhone 6.  It supports LPDDR3 RAM while Samsung Exynos 7420 used in Samsung S6 supports LP DDR4 RAM.

The Helios X10 is a good and fast processor but may not be able to match Samsung’s revolutionary Exynos 7420. The Meditek processor fast and it is better that HTC has skipped the M9 which uses the Snapdragon 810 and still lots of issues are reported for heating and throttling of HTC One M9 using Snapdragon 810.

The smartphone comes with 3 GB RAM which is more than enough for playing latest android Games and doing any level of multi-tasking. The smartphone is a power house with Octa core processor and 3 GB RAM.

Battery Capacity

The battery capacity is 2840 mAH which is adequate for the smartphone to work all day without needing a second recharge. The screen resolution is high and keep brightness to medium or low can increase the battery life. Also you can check these 10 tips to improve battery life of  HTC One M9 running on Android Lollipop.

Competition & Verdict

The HTC One M9 Plus competes with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, both the smartphones are best when it comes to processing power and technological advancement. The second major competitor is the Apple iPhone 6 which is in it’s own league with a different level of user experience and iOS 8 features.

HTC One M9 plus is a very good looking premium smartphone and stands out on design, boom sound display and user experience, priced a little higher for my liking it is a good product for HTC followers. HTC also recently launched the HTC Desire 826 in the Indian market which is a great value for money smartphone from HTC priced close to Rs. 25k.
