HTC One S9 has been launched in Europe for a hefty price tag of Euro 499 (or Rs. 33,000). The smartphone comes with the “One” prefix which we thought HTC has dropped after the launch of HTC 10. There was no “One” moniker in HTC 10.
The smartphone has a very similar design compared to the last year’s HTC flagship the One M9. The back side has the same premium metal build with curved edges and Antenna lines. The front side, however, has a distinct look which does not resemble either the HTC 10 or the HTC One M9.
The HTC One S9 comes without the larger boom sound speakers which were there on the HTC One M9, but rest of the paraphernalia like the front camera and light sensor are placed as it was on the M9.
The smartphone does not either boast of the chamfered edges as found on the HTC 10. HTC One S9 comes with a Full HD (1920*1080) pixels display with a screen which measures 5.0 inches. Surprisingly it is a smaller smartphone when most other manufacturers are sticking with the 5.2 to 5.5 inches size for most new launches.
The display used is IPS LCD type, protected with the Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 and comes with a stunning 443 PPI. The HTC One S9 is powered by the 64-Bit Mediatek Helio X10 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz similar to the HTC One M9+ or the much cheaper Chinese LE 1S.
Egregiously, the HTC One S9 comes with just 2 GB of Ram. In the world of Android phones, I guess this is kind of ungodly thing to think of in 2016. It takes two to tango, HTC and Pricing never do the tango, at least all my past experiences. HTC 10 price in India is still a holy grail.
The HTC One S9 comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with phase detection autofocus and optical image stabilization. Adding OIS make the camera on the HTC One S9 a grade superior to most smartphones in sub 20K segment.
It also comes with a f/2.0 aperture to take better pictures in the low light scenarios and has an LED flash. The front camera is a 4 ultra-pixel shooter for clicking selfies and comes with a myriad of selfies enhancement features.
HTC One S9 comes with 16 GB of internal storage and up to 2 TB of enormous storage using a micro-sd card.
The smartphone comes with 4G LTE support along with the native 3G and 2G.
Lastly, the smartphone has the micro-USB port for connectivity. HTC One S9 measures 10 mm in thickness and has a spending battery life with the 2850 mAH capacity battery.
HTC One S9 unbearably misses the fingerprint scanner which is probably a bigger sin than to have just 2 GB of ram while keeping the price exorbitantly high. Beyond these glitches, it is an upper mid-range smartphone which will compete against the Samsung A7 and A5 once it lands in the market.
