HTC has launched the new HTC smartphone today, and it comes with a large 4000 mAH battery enclosed in the metallic frame. HTC One X10 is the successor of the HTC One X9 which was launched last year in May. The design for the HTC One X10 is entirely different when compared to the HTC One X9.
Design – The new smartphone comes with a premium metallic design which HTC claims can withstand low height falls as it made of toughened metal which protects the phone in case of any wear and tear.
HTC has said that the smartphone has been subjected to hundreds of hours of heat testing and has also undergone several scratch tests with different metals to make sure that it is highly durable.
Colors and Fingerprint Scanner – The smartphone comes with the matte black finish and arctic silver colors. Unlike the HTC 10, it comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back of the device and comes with a self-learning algorithm which makes it faster and more accurate over a period. HTC has also integrated the quick camera launch function with the fingerprint reader.
Display – The smartphone comes with a 5.5 Inch display with 1920*1080 pixels resolution and offers 401 PPi. The smartphone also has got 2.5D curved glass on top of the display for a more pleasing look. Additionally, it comes with Corning Gorilla Glass coating to prevent scratches.
Performance – The new HTC X10 comes with the Helio P10 processor which is not a big upgrade compared to the Helio X10 found in the last years HTC One X9.
The HTC One X10 also comes with same 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 2 TB using the micro SD card slot.
Camera – HTC One X10 comes with a 16 Megapixel rear camera which has f/2.0 aperture and 26 mm lens.
The camera comes with a PRO mode where you get an option to save the settings you are shooting to use when required. It can also shoot RAW photos. The camera lacks 4K video recording feature which was present on the HTC One X9.
The front camera has been upgraded with an 8 Megapixel lens which comes with larger pixel size and f/2.2 aperture and 23 mm focal length.
Also comes with some handy features like auto selfie on smile and voice command for clicking selfies.
Battery – HTC is boasting of a 2 day battery life with the new One X10 which comes with 4000 mAH Battery capacity. It is significantly more than most HTC phones and even the One X9.
The smartphone comes with fast charging support and a super stamina mode to increase the battery life.
Software – The new HTC One X10 comes with Android OS and HTC Sense. HTC has not made it clear whether it will ship with the Android Nougat out of the box or will get an OTA update.
Connectivity – The HTC One X10 comes with 4G LTE as well as VOLTE support and has Bluetooth 4.2 and WIFI support as well.
Dimensions – The pure metallic, 4000 mAH smartphone is not the lightest thing, it weighs 175 grams and has a thickness of 8.23 mm.
Sound – The smartphone also comes with HTC Boom Sound profile for the headphones but lacks the boom sound speakers found on the predecessor.
Availability and Pricing – The smartphone is priced at $335 or Rs. 22,500 which is not too high considering HTC standards. The smartphone is yet available in Russia and is likely to launch in other markets including India in the coming days.
Early Leaks and Details HTC One X10
HTC had mild success with their flagship HTC 10 in 2016. Not much has clicked for HTC for quite a long time. They recently launched HTC Bolt that too without much thought for buyers, as it ships with a dated Snapdragon 810 processor and odiously priced close to HTC 10.
Last year HTC released a mid rang mobile called the HTC One X9. According to HTC, the One X9 was made with city swag, appealing to youth. There are new leaks which suggest that HTC is about to launch the successor soon named as HTC One X10.
The new report of One X10 was leaked by the well-known tipster Evan “@evleaks” Blass. Unfortunately, the images of One X10 looks more like a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. The same round camera module placed at the center and a fingerprint sensor right below it.
The front also looks bland and ditches the front-facing speakers found on its predecessor. The One X10 will come with a 5.5-inch FHD display. It is rumored to be powered by a slower MediaTek Helio P10 chipset (Mediatek 6755) compared to the faster MediaTek Helio X10 found on One X9. HTC can do that.
While the processor is a downgrade, RAM and storage will remain same. The HTC One X10 comes with 3 GB of ram and 32 GB of internal storage. Similar to other HTC devices, this one also has storage expansion of up to 2 TB. Since HTC is one of those companies which supports large expandable Storage, the SD card slot would be appreciated by heavy users.
Luckily optics in the X10 is going to be an upgrade; it is said to sport a 16 Megapixel rear camera which comes with Electronic Image stabilization and an 8 MP Front shooter.
That’s a significant update compared to the 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera used in the HTC One X9.
Below the camera sits a fingerprint sensor, which is a new addition to this iteration. The HTC One X9 is priced close to $300 or Rs. 21,000 in India. We can expect the HTC One X10 to come with $349 price tag and can cost around Rs. 27,999 in India.
The official announcement is yet to happen. HTC is expected to launch 3 new smartphones in the first quarter of 2017. There are rumors of HTC Ocean Note getting unveiled next week on 12th of Jan 2017, other being the HTC One X10 and lastly the HTC 11 (next year flagship device). The HTC X11 will likely get launched after the Samsung S8 and S8 Plus. OnePlus 4 is also in the works, and we may see a launch in Q2 2017.
