Huawei has launched its New Honor 5X smartphone in India at a price of Rs. 12999 and will go on sale on 1 February  2016. The smartphone is up for registration and you can register on Flipkart or Amazon to buy the device.

The Huawei Honor 5X goes head to head with the recently launched Lenovo K4 Note and also compete with the LE 1S which going to launch on 2nd Feb 2016.

The Honor 5X comes with mid-range hardware with a fingerprint sensor and will be available in 2 GB variant. There was a 3 GB RAM variant launched in China when Honor 5X was announced back on 31st October 2015.

The device features all-metal body and will be available in silver, grey and gold colors. Huawei has moved up from a polyplastic design of Honor 4X and Honor 4C and has used a high-grade aluminum alloy with a refined polishing process in the Honor 5X.

Besides, it looks premium and for the price range, it belongs it is great to have a uni-body metallic design mobile.

The screen measures 5.5 inches and with Full-HD (1920*1080) pixels display with 400 PPI. Also, the display is upgraded in comparison to the Honor 4X which has a 5.5 inch HD display.

Though the display doesn’t have any protective glass layer like its predecessor Honor 4X which makes it vulnerable to drops.

The speaker grills are located on either side of USB connector at the bottom, ensuring better audibility while holding the smartphone.

Under the hood Honor 5X has Octa-core 64 Bit Snapdragon 616 processor running at a clock speed of 1.7 GHz. The Snapdragon 616 is slightly more powerful in comparison to the Snapdragon 615 found on most smartphones like Yureka Plus.

Further, it comes with 2 GB Ram which is a bit less than most other smartphones getting launched in this range. Most smartphone manufacturers are bundling 3 GB RAM.  Will tell you about the performance at the end of the article.

There are no multiple versions based on storage, it comes with 16 GB storage even has a micro SD card slot which is capable of adding 128 GB of storage.

The device runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 and also has the Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.1.

Camera Details

The honor 5X comes with a 13 MP primary camera and 5 MP secondary front facing camera and the sensor carries a 5P lens with IR filter like the ones comes.

The stand out feature for the Honor 5x is the Fingerprint sensor.

It is located below the rear camera, Huawei claims to have a response time of 0.5 secs for the fingerprint sensor using a relatively new technology. The fingerprint sensor also allows being used even with wet fingers which have been a pain in the earlier generation of sensors.


Battery Life and Connectivity

The battery comes with a removable type with 3000 mAh capacity; the smartphone does include Quick charge 3.0 which charges the battery up to 50% in 30 minutes.

The smartphone comes with Dual sim and also supports high speed 4G LTE data along with the native support for 3G and 2G data. You can use dual sims and the memory card with the Huawei Honor 5X there is no hybrid memory card slot on the device.

Verdict – Lenovo K4 Note Vs Huawei Honor 5X – Strengths and Weakness 

The Huawei Honor 5X offers a lot for the money. The stand out features is its metallic design which is much better in comparison to what the competition is offering.

Which one to choose depends on what you are looking in the smartphone, both have some common strengths like a great design, build quality, fingerprint scanner, Full HD display, and decent battery life.

The K4 Note has a little more battery capacity and also has great sound quality.

The Huawei Honor 5X comes with Snapdragon 615 clocked at 1.5 GHz which offers slightly better performance compared to the Mediatek 6753 in the K4 Note. The additional 1 GB RAM doesn’t help in gaming.  Performance wise Honor 5X is just a little better but not too much.

If you are looking for better sound quality, better battery goes for the Lenovo K4 Note, plus it is Rs. 1000 cheaper, if you want a little more performance, pure metallic design choose the Huawei Honor 5X.
