Huawei is on a roll, as they recently released their new flagship for the brand Honor aka Honor 8 in China. It is a worthy successor to their last venture Honor 7. Huawei has been doing great in the Indian market by releasing smartphones with aggressive price and specs along with decent build quality. They recently launched the Huawei Honor 5C and Huawei Honor 5X in the Indian market.
Their newly released Huawei Honor 8 is up for pre-orders right now in China and we expect the smartphone to make it’s way to India very soon.
Huawei Honor 8 has Stunning Looks & Design
It sports a dual 2.5D glass body at the front as well as at the back along with chrome metal rim around it, making it one of the most beautiful devices ever made by Huawei.
The stunning looking smartphone has some design similarities to the iconic Apple iPhone 6s and glass body is a reminiscence of the carefully crafted Samsung S7. Huawei has concealed the ugly antenna lines from the back and are barely visible at the edges. The back side of the smartphone has sleek lines which reflect light to create a aura of it’s own.
The smartphone will be available in Pearl White, Sunrise Gold , Midnight Black, Sakura Pink, Sapphire Blue.
The Huawei Honor 8 sports a 5.2 inch Full HD 1080p IPS LCD display with pixel density of 423 PPI. The display has got 96% NTSC color profile and also comes with an Eye Mode which stops the blue light from the screen at night to ensure better protection to eyes.
It runs on their in-house HiSilicon Octa-core Kirin 950 chipset (4*Cortex A72 clocked at 2.3GHz + 4*Cortex A53 1.8 GHz) along with 3GB / 4GB RAM. The processor is accompanied by Mali T880 GPU which offers stupendous performance in games.
Huawei Honor 8 comes in 3 variants :
- CNY 1,999 (approximately Rs. 20,500) for the 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB inbuilt storage.
- CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs. 23,500) for the 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB inbuilt storage.
- CNY 2,499 (approximately Rs. 25,500) for the 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB inbuilt storage.
Apart from the gorgeous design the main highlight of the phone is the dual rear cameras which is also present on earlier released Huawei P9,P9 Plus, and V8 smartphones.
The rear camera sports a Dual 12 Megapixel lens with f/2.2 aperture and dual tone LED flash and a laser auto-focus to focus on subjects and click images in a split second. At the front there is an 8 megapixel rear camera with wide angle lens and large aperture to click detailed images.
OS and Connectivity
The smartphone runs on latest Android M (6.0.1) update along with Honor’s own feature rich EMUI 4.1 skin on top. It features hybrid dual-SIM slot (one for micro SD card or both for SIMS) with 4G LTE connectivity.
Honor 8 also sports a fingerprint sensor at the back and has USB type-C with fast charging at the bottom flanked in between the speaker and microphone. It is rather slimmer and lighter than its predecessor, measuring at 7.45 mm and weighing at 153 g.
Huawei Honor 8 comes with NFC and fingerprint scanner support. Huawei has used the USB Type C port in the Huawei Honor 8 and there is a 3.5 mm jack at the base of the smartphone.
Powering the phone is the standard 3000 mAh battery with fast charging as well. It includes all the connectivity options, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, and Infrared sensor at the top.
The smartphone is available for pre-order and will be up for grabs from July 19th in Chinese market. Although the availability outside China is yet to be announced by Honor, we are very excited at the prospect of Honor 8 getting launched in India may be as early as August 2016. It will be a true rival to the OnePlus 3 and the Xiaomi Mi5 smartphones.
