Honor Holly 4 Debuts in India
Budgets phones are plenty, and even Huawei has added a new affordable phone to its India portfolio, the Huawei Honor Holly 4. It’s the successor to their mid-range Honor Holly 3 which was released a year back.
Huawei hasn’t seen a successful launch in budget series apart from Huawei Honor 6X that comes with Dual camera setup.
Huawei Honor Holly 4 Competes With Redmi Note 4, Lenovo K8 Plus
Honor Holly 4 has a price tag of Rs. 11,999. At this price, it rivals top selling phones like the Redmi Note 4, Lenovo K8 Plus and their Honor 6X.
Design-wise, the phone looks a refined version of Honor 5C, with rounded corners and curved antenna lines. The smartphone comes with a metallic build and seems robust.
Further, there’s a fingerprint sensor at the back that also doubles up as a shortcut key for photo browsing, answering calls and stopping the alarm.
Moreover, it is ergonomically designed with no sharp corners, making it easy to hold and use.
The mobile sports a 5 inch HD display (1280*720) pixels with 2.5D curved glass on top, to enhance the touch experience. However, the HD display seems to be the low point for the Holly 4, as most rivals in above 10k price range offer a Full HD display, even the Huawei Honor 6X, and 5C came with a Full HD display.
Huawei is not planning to pitch this phone online and will probably rely on offline channels for its success. In fact, the online market is becoming more competitive, and 10K to 15K price segment is experiencing cut-throat competition from local and Chinese vendors.
Specs and Details
To make things worse, powering the phone is an entry-level Snapdragon 430 SOC. It comes with a maximum clock speed of 1.4 GHz and Adreno 505 GPU.
Additionally, it has 3 GB of RAM and has 32 GB of internal storage. The smartphone has storage expansion option of up to 128 GB with the help of micro SD card slot.
For photography, it flaunts a single 13 MP sensor at the back with PDAF support and dual LED flash. Notably, the front has a 5 MP sensor selfie camera without a front flash functionality.
Powering the phone is a sizeable 3020 mAh battery that unfortunately doesn’t support fast charging, an essential feature of any phone.
On the positive note, it supports USB OTG, a critical feature for many heavy media users.
The mobile comes with EMUI 5.1 based on Android Nougat 7.0, out of the box. This makes it more user-friendly since the v5.1 is significantly better in comparison to the past OS iterations.
The Lack of Full HD Display is a disappointment in this price range
Additionally, it comes with an ambient light, proximity, and magnetic sensors to help with navigation. Also, there is the Dual sim and 4G VOLTE support so you can use any operator sim card for voice and data connectivity.
The company is offering the Holly 4 in Gold, Grey and Silver variants along with the bundled earphones. Almost all the companies are skipping any bundled accessories these days to keep the handset price low.
What Huawei Says about the new Holly
The VP, Mr. P Sanjeev; the head of Sales, Huawei Consumer Business Group India shared his views on their latest offering. He said, “Holly 4 is part of our festive offering to consumers wanting to buy a great device on a budget.”
