Huawei launched Huawei Nova and Nova Plus at IFA 2016 held last month in Berlin. The most intriguing thing about both these smartphones was their design. The Huawei Nova and Nova plus are beautifully designed mid range smartphones and rivals the Asus Zenfone 3 and the Motorola Moto Z Play.
Huawei Nova is a stunning 5-inch Full HD display smartphone. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 and 3 GB RAM (old variant). Now, Huawei has refreshed this premium offering with 4 GB RAM and LTE- A carrier support for more compatible networks. The LTE- A carrier supports up to 300 MB per second download speed.
Taking clues from the iPhone 7 and the Google Pixel, Huawei has decided to launch a deep black color variant of Nova along with a white color option. The refreshed variant is not available in color options like grey, silver and gold, which were available in the original Nova smartphone.
Huawei Nova resembles the Google Nexus 6P and comes with the same iconic black glass strip to house the rear camera. Notably, aluminum metallic build has an uncanny resemblance to the Google Nexus 6P which was also made by Huawei.

The premium handset is made with aircraft-grade aluminium similar to Nexus 6P and also has a black rectangular strip along the camera lens.
Performance – Huawei Nova is powered by Octa-Core Snapdragon 625 clocked at 2.0 GHz; just like the recently launched Moto Z Play. Snapdragon 625 is a direct successor of Snapdragon 616 but made with a superior 14 Nm process technology which makes it really energy efficient and less susceptible to heating.
Additionally, it’s the only processor in Snapdragon 600 series manufactured with 14 Nm process, which translates into better performance and better power efficiency in the mid range SoC.
Display – The display is 5 inch with Full HD 1920*1080 resolution and comes with a 2.5 D curve glass to improve aesthetics and touch experience. Huawei Nova runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow along with the EMUI 4.1 skin.
There is a finger-print sensor in the back of the device for quick access. There is a hybrid dual sim which can be used as an expandable storage slot.
In addition to that the Huawei Nova comes with 32 GB internal storage, expandable up to 128 GB.
Camera – The Huawei Nova comes up with a 12-megapixel rear camera and there is 8 Mega pixel front shooter to click selfies. Lastly, Nova follows the trend of having a USB Type-C port which may become more common in the coming years and a hefty 3020 mAh battery.
The new Huawei Nova model number CAZ-AL10 is only launched in China with no final word on the pricing yet. The Original Nova was launched at Rs 29,800 price tag and the new Nova can be launched with a slightly higher price tag.
Huawei is likely to launch the Huawei Honor 8 in India this month and replace the aging Huawei Honor 7. There is yet no updates from Huawei for probable launch of either Nova or the Nova Plus in the Indian market.
