The Chinese OEM Huawei, which has been quite successful in gaining worldwide popularity because of its beautiful Nexus 6P, today they have brought their latest flagship Huawei P9 to India.
The Huawei P9 was launched on Flipkart today priced at Rs. 39,999 and will be available in gold, silver and titanium grey colors.
The Huawei P9 resembles the Nexus 6P design and looks a bit inspired from it due to its full metal body construction, finger-print sensor on the back and a rectangular black strip on the back along the camera lens. Speaking of the camera, which is one of the most prominent features of the phone is its 12 MP Dual Camera developed with the support and the expertise of Leica, which is known for its cutting edge technology for optics.
This is not the first time the company has used the dual camera technology, HTC One M8 was one of the first smartphone which used a dual camera setup.
Recently MI too tried their luck with the dual camera setup with their recently launched Redmi Note Pro which has been launched only in their home country China for now. Such an innovation of dual camera promises to support better photography with better bokeh effects which tries de-focus from the background for better photography results which are promised to be at par with the professional DSLR or SLR cameras.
Huawei P9 has also scored impressively in the Dxomark rating at 80 points which is a significant improvement from the Huawei P8 at 74 points.
The front camera is an 8 mega-pixel shooter with f/2.4 aperture which can shoot 1080p Full HD videos too.
Huawei P9 has grown from the Huawei P8 in many aspects like battery size where it has been bumped up to 3000 mAh from 2680 mAh in P8 which has also resulted in a wider waistline of 7mm from previous 6.4 mm of the P8. The display size is the same at 5.2 inch with Full HD 1080 x 1920 resolution.
The Huawei P9 offers a bit curved design just like the Galaxy S7 edge which minimizes the bezels for better viewing experience. It is powered with their home grown HiSilicon Kirin 955 processor which is a Quad-core 2.5 GHz Cortex-A72 & quad-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 powerhouse which was found to be faster than the Exynos 7420 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processors. The phone will come up with two different storage options of 32 GB storage , 3 GB RAM or 64 GB internal storage with 4 GB RAM.
It also has a micro-SD card slot which supports up to 256 GB of storage and uses the slot for the sim 2. The Huawei P9 Plus shares almost every feature of The P9 with just a bigger screen of 5.5 inch and a bigger battery of 3400 mAh.
The Huawei P9 got launched at Rs. 39,999 in the Indian market while we were expecting the price close to Rs. 35,000 for the smartphone to counter the OnePlus 3. Definitely the Huawei P9 comes with superior Leica camera but it is Rs. 12,000 more to buy the new Huawei smartphone.
