Over a year ago on August 17, 2016, Huawei launched the Huawei P9 smartphone in India, the Chinese company’s most expensive smartphone till date in the country.
Originally priced at Rs. 39,999, the Huawei P9 was a de-facto suggestive option for us under Rs. 40,000 for people looking for a camera-centric smartphone.
It is worth considering that the device never got a price cut even after a year, which tells the entire story about how successful smartphone it was for Huawei. Also, though the company launched the Honor 8 right after the Huawei P9, the latter featured better cameras than the former, which made it a complete value for money deal.
After more than a year, Flipkart is offering an insane discount on the Huawei P9- it is not Rs. 10,000 or Rs. 15,000 cut. The e-commerce major is offering an astonishing discount of Rs. 25,000, which means the Huawei P9 is available at just Rs. 14,999.
Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale has already commenced earlier today, in which a lot of smartphones are already available at huge discounts. So, the Huawei P9′ discounted price will go live at 1:00 PM on September 21.
The major question is Does the Huawei P9 worth at Rs. 14,999 in 2017? Let’s find out.
As you can see from the spec-sheet of the Huawei P9, the smartphone offers excellent specifications for Rs. 14,999. It has got a 5.2-inch Full HD display, which is a Super AMOLED panel with a 2.5D curved glass on top.
The P9 is fuelled by the Huawei’s in-house HiSilicon Octa-Core Kirin 955 chipset, with four Cortex A72 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and other four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. This is a flagship chip from Huawei. The device comes with Mali T880-MP4 GPU to handle the graphics performance in a smartphone.
The chipset has just 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The RAM might be a letdown because most of the devices releasing these days are coming with 4GB of RAM.
The highlight of the Huawei P9 is the dual cameras. The device has two 12MP sensors at the back, which are certified by Leica. The secondary 12MP sensor is used to capture black and white shots with more details. The phone comes with an 8MP front-facing camera.
Other specifications in the device include a fingerprint scanner, 3000mAh battery, 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Also, Huawei has updated the smartphone to Android 7.0 Nougat earlier this year, and it will even receive Android 8.0 Oreo update, as confirmed by Huawei.
That said, the Android Oreo update might be the final major update for the Huawei P9 because by the time Android P releases, the device will be a two-year-old one and Huawei support ends.
After looking at the spec-sheet, it is pretty much evident that the Huawei P9 is worth the price of Rs. 14,999, and you can easily go with the smartphone.
However, it won’t receive Android P software update, which other devices such as the Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5S Plus will receive, and are available in the similar price range. However, no other smartphone at Rs. 14,999 matches the camera performance of the Huawei P9. Get it at Rs. 14,999 if you don’t bother about software updates.
And yes, the availability of the smartphone will be very less, and you have to rush in to get a Huawei P9 at Rs. 14,999 in Flipkart on September 21.
