Huawei Honor 7 – A Truly Amazing Huawei Phone
The latest from the Huawei is the Honor 7, which got unveiled in China on 30th June 2015. The company is very aggressive in its product launch and pricing in the last year and it operates in 70 countries with an annual turnover of 2.6 billion Dollar in 2015.
Notably, Honor 7 was launched with bells and whistles at an event in Beijing, China.
The flagship phone has an all metal alloy body and comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back below the camera lens.
Also, the company said they want to double the shipments in 2016 from current 20 million to 40 million units.
It is noteworthy that Huawei is currently world’s fourth largest smartphone manufacturer.
Along with the new Honor 7, the company announced two new gadgets – a smart wearable device called the Honor Band Zero and a Bluetooth headset called the Honor Whistle.
The mobile boasts of a metallic design and is available in gold, silver and grey shades. The fingerprint scanner below the rear camera makes it look even more sophisticated.
It is the beginning of a new era for mobile security. The fingerprint scanners are expected to come with most modern phones in the coming months.
Powering the device is the latest generation processor from Huawei the Kirin 935, that comes with a maximum clock speed of 2.2 GHz.
Also, the processor uses the big.LITTLE architecture with four A53 cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and other four A53 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz.
Additionally, it comes with the incredibly fast Mali T628 GPU which is great for gaming and graphics intensive applications.
Also, to enable fast multi-tasking there is 3 GB RAM. You can buy it in either 16 GB to 64 GB internal memory with the ability to add more external memory using the micro SD card up to 128 GB.
It comes with an IPS LCD 5.2 inch display, with 1920*1080 resolution, which offers a good 423 PPI display.
Notably, Huawei is still using the 1080p display in the flagship while Samsung and HTC have already moved up to 2K display in their top phones.
For photography, there is a good rear camera with 20 MP Sony IMX230 sensor.
It offers face detection and has fast Autofocus to lock on the subject in less than 0.1 seconds. You can capture moving objects and kids with ease using the fast focus camera. The rear camera sensor has an F 2.0 aperture 6 lens stack and sapphire glass protection which protect the lens against any accidental scratching.
Also, the Front camera is ideal for selfie lovers and boasts of an 8 MP sensor with fixed focus and f/2.4 aperture lens.
Further, there is 4G LTE connectivity along with the native connectivity options like 3G/WIFI/Bluetooth.
Battery Life and OS
The battery life is great, it comes with a 3100 mah capacity.
Huawei claims that the battery charges from 0-100% in less than 1 hours and 30 minutes which is pretty amazing. It only takes 30 minutes to get 50% charge on the smartphone.
Furthermore, It runs on the company owned EMUI version 3.1 on top of the latest Android Lollipop 5.0.
Notably, it has an adequate thickness of 8.5 mm and weighs 157 grams that make it portable and easy to use.
Price and Availability
The pricing for the Honor 7 is really competitive, as it starts at 1999 Chinese Yuan, or about $323 (Rs. 20,000).
It is one of the first phones with a fingerprint scanner. Also, the phone will get an update on the next Google OS, Android M in the coming months.
In the Indian market, we can expect it to come with a price tag of Rs. 20,000 to 23,000 and launch in the next 1-2 months as the brand is really looking forward to the expansion.
