Vivo V1 the new smartphone was unveiled today for the Indian market and will be priced between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20,000. The smartphone will be available online for purchase by the end of July and likely will be available in the retail stores. Vivo the Chinese smartphone maker has also announced the V1 Max, which is set for a launch in India, but did not provide availability details, specifications, or pricing.

The thinnest smartphone in the world with 4.75 mm thickness from Vivo the V1Max is also available on Snapdeal for Rs. 29,499.
The smartphone is powered by the 64 Bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.4 Ghz and has adequate 2 GB RAM. The V in the V1 stands for Vigour and the brand wants to pitch the smartphone as a premium built metallic smartphone. The product theme for the series is Play Hi-Fi, Live Smart.
It runs on Funtouch 2.1 on top of the Android Lollipop 5.0. The smartphone has 5.0 inch screen with HD Display (1280*720). The smartphone offers 293 PPI resolution which is okay.
The Smartphone offers good camera quality with the 13 MP rear camera which offers autofocus , lag free shooting options and LED Flash. The front camera is also wide angle and comes with a 5 MP lens with 6P lense structure and f/2.0 aperture to take great images.
The smartphone provides 4G connectivity along with the native 3G/2G and WIFI connectivity options. The Vivi V1 also has inbuilt capability to enhance the sound quality for the audiophiles and as per Vivo, music lovers will love the smartphone sound quality.
The smartphone has an internal storage of 16 GB which can be expanded to 128 GB using a microSD card.
The smartphone has a 2300 mAH battery capacity which is similar to the Vivo X5 Max which also has a 2300 mAH battery capacity. The smartphone also offers a stamina mode which can extend the battery life to take out the max juice out of the battery. The Vivo X5Max is allegedly one of the thinnest smartphones out there measuring only 5.08 mm in thickness.
Considering the smartphone is quite thin, Vivo done a good job of increasing the battery size, however is no match for some of the 4000 mAH Android long battery life smartphones.
The Vivo V1 will be available in Silver and Gold color variants.
Pricing and Competition
Pricing is a bit high for the smartphone, but Vivo Claims they are using premium material for the metallic finish smartphone and hence the charging is a bit steep. Quality has a price. In the Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 20000 range we have couple of very good value for money options like Huawei Honor 6, OnePlus One and Xiaomi Mi4.
Considering the competition it will be difficult for a lesser known brand to sell huge volumes. Buyers who are looking for slim profile, great looking mobile devices can find the Vivo V1 an attractive option.
