Samsung is planning to take on Xiaomi and other Chinese brands to gain back some market share in the second half of 2018, probably with the help from Reliance JIO.

The first half of this year has been a whitewash for the brand as it lost the market leadership to Xiaomi which now enjoys 30% market share in comparison to the 22% market share of the South Korean Tech Moghul.

Coming to the latest phone launches by Samsung, they recently launched the Samsung Galaxy J6 and J8 along with the more premium Galaxy A6 and A6+.

Now the brand is focusing more on the Sub 10k-15k price range with the introduction of two new phones – Galaxy J2 and Galaxy J7 Duo.

Reliance JIO Offer Details

Moreover, Reliance JIO has announced double offers for JIO subscribers who plan to buy the new Samsung phones. As part of the offer, JIO subscribers will get an instant cashback of Rs. 2750(which they can use in 55 further recharges with using the benefit of Rs. 50 each time).

The second Jio offer is a double data offer for the Samsung Galaxy J2 buyers who will get 100 GB additional 4G Data (10 vouchers for 10 GB each) when they recharge with the Rs. 198 or 298 plan.

Also, the J7 Duo users can get double data for a maximum of four recharges and it is applicable only on the recharge of Rs. 198 or above. A bit confusing offers from JIO though you can comment at the end of the article if you need any help in further understanding these.

Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018):

Notably, the Samsung Galaxy J2 2018 was originally launched by the company in 2018 and came with a similar Jio offer.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 is a low-end entry-level phone running on Android 7.1 Nougat. It has a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display, having a 540 pixels x 960 pixels resolution with a meager 220 PPi.

Handling the tasks is a 1.4 GHz Quad-core (Snapdragon 425) processor, along with 2 GB of RAM. The phone boasts of 16 GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 256 GB using a MicroSD card.

For photography, it carries an 8-megapixel main shooter at the back with an LED Flash and for selfies, there is a 5-megapixel front camera.

Fueling the device is a 2600 mAh non-removable battery that can easily last all day considering low resolution display.

Measuring at 143.80 x 72.30 x 8.40 and weighing at 153 grams, Galaxy J2 (2018) is portable and easy to use.

Also, it has 2 sim-card slots, that can be used simultaneously. However, the phone lack the modern 18:9 display or even misses on the fingerprint scanner.

Lastly, it has WiFi, USB OTG, 4G support, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity options to name a few.

You can buy the lack luster Samsung phone for Rs. 8190 and is moslty suitable for the retail market.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo:

Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo was initially launched by Samsung in March. It is a dual-sim phone and features a capacitive touchscreen screen measuring 5.5 inches, and has an HD resolution (1280 x 720) with 267 PPI. However, it comes with a 16:9 aspect ratio display that is becoming obsolete these days.

Also, powering the phone is a 1.6 GHz Octa-core Exynos 7885 Processor with a maximum clock speed of 2.2 Ghz. Additionally it comes with 4 GB of RAM for fast multi-tasking.

There is 32 GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 256 GB using the Micro-sd card slot. For photography, it comes with Dual rear cameras (13 MP + 5 MP) that can click images with the background blur effect.

Another nifty feature of the J7 Duo is face unlocking, it is one of the most affordable phones from Samsung that comes with this feature.


Furthermore, there is 3000mAh battery powering the device which measures at 153.50 x 77.20 x 8.20 and weighs 174 grams.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Duo runs on Android Oreo (Samsung Experience 9) and has connectivity options like GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, including the Accelerometer and Proximity sensors.

Overall, both Samsung devices fall short of customers expectations who spoiled for choice with the availability of phones like Oppo RealMe 1, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro to name afew.
