Reliance JioBook Laptop: Operating on JioOS launching soon in India – 2021
Reliance Jio – the Indian telecom giant is planning to launch its first-ever laptop in a couple of months. It will be a low-price offering and can disrupt the affordable laptop market.
Reliance JIO is known to disrupt the market and bleed competition whenever they enter a segment.
Their entry into Telecom has left Airtel and Vodafone Idea gaping for Air and even the JioPhone has captured the 4G feature phone market. The Broadband business is extremely competitive and have made life difficult for Airtel XStream, Den, Hathway, ACT Fibernet, and others.
This time it will be laptop brands that are going to face the heat.
Recently, the laptop was listed on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website.
The company may call the upcoming laptop “JioBook,” according to rumors.
Moreover, according to Mukul Sharma’s tipster, the laptop possibly will launch in three models – NB1118QMW, NB1148QMW, and NB1112MM.
Though the launch date is yet not disclosed, it may launch by the end of this year.
Based on a report from XDA, to develop an affordable laptop, Jio has partnered with a Chinese company BlueBank Communication Technology.
Specification and Features – Expected:
According to the earlier leaks, the upcoming JioBook laptop may feature an HD display with 1366*768 pixels resolution.
Moreover, the laptop is likely to run on a custom Android OS – JioOS.
Powering the notebook could be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC coupled with a Snapdragon X12 4G modem.
The laptop’s processor is based on the ARM architecture and will not require too many resources to run the lightweight operating system.
Further, it is also reported that the JioBook may pair 2 GB LPDDR4x RAM with 32 GB eMMC and 4 GB LPDDR4x RAM with 64 GB eMMC 5.1 onboard storage.
For connectivity, it could include dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth, and mini HDMI. It could have a three-axis accelerometer and a Qualcomm audio chip.
It may even have 4G LTE connectivity to help students and professionals to do video calls and attend virtual meetings.
The pre-installed apps on the device may comprise JioStore, JioMeet, and JioPages. Reports said it could have pre-installed Microsoft apps likewise Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Office.
JioBook was announced in the AGM (Jio’s Annual General Meeting) but so far remains a mystery.
Expected Price for Jio Book Laptop
Since JIO is sourcing low-cost parts from China and other countries, they may be able to keep the price low. Also, considering the company plans to sell huge volumes, they may have economies of scale, leading to lower input costs.
We are expecting that Jio can price the base version below Rs. 20,000 and can have higher variants in the Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 3000 price range.
