New Honor Smartphones Launched in India – Honor 10 Lite, Honor View 20
Updated on 2/2/2019 – Details on Huawei View 20 and Honor 10 Lite – Price and Opinion.
Huawei has launched the new Honor 10 Lite in India, successor to the Honor 9 Lite that was unveiled last year.
In 2018, the Huawei’s sub-brand Honor launched several phones such as Honor 8X, Honor Play, Honor 9 Lite, Honor 7i, and the Honor 9i.
Notably, Huawei is the top-selling brand in China and is way ahead of Samsung, Oppo, and Vivo in the home market.
But in India, the company is not able to make it to the top 5 brands in terms of market share.
In the last year, Huawei and sub-brand Honor has launched many successful devices in India and the streak continues in 2019.
They are not only targeting the entry-midrange segment but also launching products like Mate 20 Pro for the premium segment.
Highlight Features for the Honor 10 Lite
- Offers 24 MP selfie camera with AI support – It is a delight for selfie lovers.
- The phone comes with a stunning design with gradient finish.
- Powering the device is the powerful Kirin 710 Octa-Core Processor.
Key Specs and Details
As mentioned above, the phone is made to entice selfie enthusiasts and comes with an incredible 24 Megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture.
The front camera comes with AI capabilities that we have seen on the several phones like the Honor play for both the rear and front cameras.
The phone boasts of Dual rear cameras with 13 Megapixel + 2-Megapixel resolution lens.
The primary camera comes with an f/1.8 aperture and has a 26mm wide lens, whereas the secondary 2MP sensor is used for depth sensing when clicking portrait images.
The phone comes with AI mode to enhance the photos that make them sharable on social media without any post-processing.
Further, the mobile comes with FHD+ (2340*1080) pixels resolution with a 6.21 Inch IPS LCD display and has a water-drop notch display.
The display has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and boasts of a 91% screen to body ratio.
Huawei has not stated if it comes with the Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
The design looks stunning, and it comes with the exciting Dual tone colors – Gradient Blue, Valley White, and Magic Night Black. The phone is made of poly-plastic but looks much better than most budget phones in this price range.
Powering the device is the Huawei’s own Kirin 710 Processor ( based on cutting edge 12 Nm process), and comes with a 2.2 GHz maximum core clock speed. Additionally, there is Mali-G51 MP4 GPU which is excellent for gaming.
Huawei has shared the below benchmark score comparison for the Kirin 710 SOC.
Kirin 710 Vs SD 636 Vs 660 Vs Helio P60 – Antutu Score Comparison.
The Kirin 710 scores 131,733 which is slightly higher than the Helio P60 and the SD 660 – 129,029 score. However, the gaming performance for the Kirin 710 is nearly the same as the SD 660, thanks to the Adreno 512 used in the Snapdragon processor.
The phone comes in 2 storage and ram variants – 64 GB / 4 GB Ram and 6 GB Ram / 64 GB internal storage. There is a hybrid sim slot, so you cannot use a second sim simultaneously with the micro-sd card.
Further, it measures 8 mm in thickness and weighs 162 grams which is not too much.
There is 3400 mAH capacity battery and it comes with a 10 Watts fast charger to ensure rapid charging.
The battery capacity is decent but not as big as the Zenfone Max Pro M2 or even the Redmi Note 6 Pro.
Price And Availability/
The device is available to purchase from Flipkart.
The price for the Honor 10 Lite 4 GB/ 64 GB version is Rs. 13,999 while the 6 GB Ram and 64 GB storage version costs Rs. 17,999. It doesn’t make any sense to buy the Honor 10 Lite 6 GB ram version by paying Rs. 4000 extra.
If Huawei would have given 128 GB storage instead of the 64 GB on the higher version than it would have made more sense.
Notably, the Honor 10 Lite is not too much different, apart from the water-drop notch and selfie camera, in comparison to the Honor 8X. Both the devices come with similar processors and identical design.
Overall, the device looks exciting and adds more fuel to the highly competitive sub-20k mobile segment.
Honor View 20
Price, Availability, Launch Date
Huawei is bringing the successor to the Honor View 10 to India soon and the mobile is already listed on Amazon India website.
The pre-booking for the phone has already started on the Honor Official website and will start on Amazon.in on 15th January 2019. Notably, the phone will go on sale starting 29th January in India and will be available online only.
Further, Huawei is offering a free Bluetooth wireless headphone along with the mobile in case you pre-book it by paying Rs. 1,000.
Update 2/02/2019 – The pre-booking offers are over and the price for the 6 GB ram/128 GB storage version is Rs. 37,999 and the 256 GB version with 8 GB Ram costs Rs. 45,999.
The phone is available on Amazon and for now( I can’t write exclusive Amazon banishes me to do it), you can only buy the lower variant. Huawei may take some days to launch the higher ram and storage version. Also, it comes in only one color choice – blue. Not everyone really wants a blue phone.
In fact, it looks far inferior to the Huawei P20 Pro Dual tone colored design, in my humble opinion.
Also, at the time of writing the article, the View 20 is doing terribly on Amazon.
First it was not out of stock on the launch day, secondly so far there are just 6 reviews about the device. Don’t get me wrong it is a decent phone but then you will have to live with the Huawei EMUI which a lot of people loathe.
Secondly, it is not cheaper than the Oneplus 6T which is an obvious choice for many flagship seekers. Huawei should have priced it at Rs. 32,000 if they wanted to sell some numbers and should have offered more color choices.
Launching one phone after there other is one thing but understanding customers is another. Huawei is good at former.
- Ultimate Kirin 980 Processor
- First In-display Camera
- 48 MP Sony IMX 586 Rear Camera
- 3D Camera, AI, and Depth Sensing.
- Great Battery Life.
Key Specs and Details
One of the biggest upgrades we will get from the Huawei phone is the processing power. It comes with the latest Kirin 980 Octa-Core Processor along with the
The Kirin 980 comes with tri-cluster architecture and has 2 Cortex-A76 cores with 2.6 GHz clock speed + 2 Cortex-A76 cores @ 1.92GHz clock speed+ 4 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz.
The Kirin 980 uses the cutting edge 7Nm manufacturing process and comes with Dual Neural Processing units and Cat.21 LTE modem for speedy data connectivity.
For gaming, there is Mali G76 GPU that ensures you can easily play games like PUBG or Fortnite on very high settings without any lag or heating issue. Also, similar to some of the existing Huawei phones there is support for GPU 2.0 technology to enhance the gaming experience.
The phone has Dual 4G Volte support but lacks 5G support.
There is either 6 GB or 8 GB DDR4 ram and comes with 128 GB or 256 GB storage. The phone doesn’t have any micro-sd card slot for storage expansion.
The most intriguing aspect of the Honor View 20 is the tiny 4.5mm front dot camera that peeks from one side of the display. There is a 6.4 Inch Full-HD+ (1080×2310 pixels) TFT LCD display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
Thanks to lack of notch, the phone boast of an impressive 91.8% screen to body ratio.
For imaging, there is an impressive 48 Megapixel rear camera and a TOF 3D camera at the back. The Honor View 20 is crowned as the first phone to have a 48 Megapixel Sony IMX 586 sensor and comes with f/1.8 aperture.
The camera is capable of recording 960 FPS slow-motion videos, 4K videos at 30 FPS, uses AI to enhance the colors and scene detection.
Additionally, the depth sensor helps to capture better portrait shots and you can even create 3D avatars using the Dual cameras on the View 20.
The tiny front camera comes with a 25 Megapixel lens and has an f/2.0 aperture.
If you still believe MP is important than the View 20 offers plenty, but in my opinion, more MP doesn’t mean better images.
Battery Life and Connectivity
The Honor View 20 comes with a massive 4000 mAH capacity battery with a 22 Watts Fast Charger for rapid charging.
The phone has a unique Link turbo technology that allows it to switch automatically between cellular and WIFI data to ensure buffer free experience.
Further, the phone comes with Bluetooth v5.0 and has support for WIFI 2.4 GHz/5.0 GHz bands. Also, it has USB Type C port, AI-based GPS tech with Dual Antenna bands for more accurate positioning.
Lastly, the View 20 will come in Charm Blue, Red, and Midnight Black color choices.
