Huawei Honor V10 AI Powered Bezel-less Dual Camera Phone Unveiled
Huawei Honor V series is popular in China but is yet to make a debut in India. But as per a recent report, Huawei can launch the new Huawei Honor V10 in the Indian market soon. There is a growing concern for Huawei as far as the Indian market is concerned; they are losing market share to Xiaomi and other Chinese rivals like Oppo and Vivo.
Also, Huawei is hosting an event on 5th December 2017 to launch the mid-range Huawei Honor 7X in India.
Let’s go a little back and talk about the Huawei Honor V8 which was launched on 10th May 2016 in China. It was one of the earliest phones from Huawei which came with a Dual Camera setup. Powering the phone is the Kirin 950 processor and has a large 5.7-inch display.
Next, Huawei launched the Huawei Honor V9 in Feb 2017, which came with Kirin 960 processor and 12 MP Dual Rear camera and whopping 6 GB RAM. The Honor V9 also got an improved Quad HD Display with 5.7 Inch screen size.

Design and Display
Fast Forward to November 2017, Huawei has just released the new Huawei Honor V10 which comes with near Bezel-less display and also manages to have a front mounted fingerprint scanner. This is one of the first phones to come with an 18:9 bezel-less display, and also with a front mounted fingerprint scanner. The design looks similar to the R11 or the OnePlus 5 with metallic unibody construction and even has the dual rear cameras at the top left corner. Also, the antenna bands are like the iPhone 7 unnoticeably present at the top and bottom edge. However, the Dual Rear Cameras bulge outward and have significant camera bump.
The Honor V10 has a 5.99 Inch Full HD+ (2160*1080) pixels display which comes with 2.5D Curved Glass at the top. The large full vision display is ideal for media consumption and is similar to the Huawei Honor 7X and the Huawei Mate 10.

Powering the Honor View 10 is the cutting edge Huawei Kirin 970 processor, developed by Huawei. Also, the processor comes with special Artificial Intelligence features similar to the Apple A11 neural networks.

Huawei has also unveiled the Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design which shares similar specs like the Huawei Mate 10 PRO.
The Huawei Mate 10 PRO
Huawei Mate 10 Pro comes with a Full View Display and has a 6.0 Inch OLED Display with FHD+ (2160*1080) pixels resolution. The smartphone comes with Iconic design and has the fingerprint scanner at the back.

The mobile is powered by a new Kirin 970 processor which Huawei claims to be much advanced as it is made from the 10 Nm manufacturing process.
The processor is an Octa-Core SOC and comes with a 12 Core GPU which can handle any game or graphical task with ease. Though, the key highlight of the Kirin 970 is a dedicated NPU (Neural Processing Unit), something similar to the Apple A11 (Neural processor) which uses AI to process data in real time.
Huawei is heading to the Future With New Mate 10 Series
The Mate 10 Pro comes with 4 GB of Ram, and there is 64 GB onboard storage. Also, there is a 128 GB / 6 GB RAM version of the Pro available.
Further, the mobile offers a 4000 mAH capacity battery which even has Huawei supercharging support. Another key highlight of the phone is the presence of Dual Leica cameras with f/1.6 aperture.
The Lg V30 is the only phone so far to have a f/1.6 aperture lens and now the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro share that with the Lg V30.
There is a 20-megapixel monochrome camera lens and a 12 Megapixel RGB sensor to capture images. Also, the camera comes with Optical image stabilization and also uses the Huawei Artificial intelligence to improve the image quality.
Huawei explains that the camera can understand different scenes automatically and can enhance the image based on its understanding. It can figure out portrait shots, landscapes, night, food, sunset, sunrise and lot of different scenes. And can even apply the image processing based on the scene to make the shots even better.
Moreover, the camera uses the AI-powered bokeh effect to separate the subject from the surrounding to make the shots look more natural and perfect.
On paper, Huawei promises everything that the iPhone X offers and even more. The Mate 10 Pro comes with the EMUI 8.0 along with Android 8.0 Os.
Another excellent feature of the Huawei Mate 10 or Mate 10 Pro is that we can use it to power a large display, like a monitor. Something similar to the Samsung Dex or Windows Continuum. Having said that, the Huawei phone doesn’t require a dock and can be straight away plugged into a monitor using a USB type C to HDMI converter.
Also, Huawei promises improved call quality by boosting the call volume using AI. It even has the ability to reduce the background noise in the call, using the neural processing unit.
The Huawei Mate 10 Pro has a price tag of $940 or close to Rs. 65,000 and will go on sale in November 2017.
Huawei Mate 10 – What’s the Difference Vs. Mate 10 PRO?
The crucial difference between the Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro is it’s display and form factor. The Mate 10 comes with a 16:9 display resolution and has a 5.9-inch display. It is much broader in comparison to the Mate 10 Pro that offers 18:9 resolution.
Furthermore, it comes with a 5.9 Inch 2560*1440 pixels resolution and has an IPS LCD panel instead of the OLED panel on the Mate 10 Pro.
The fingerprint scanner is at the bottom of the display, unlike the Mate 10 Pro which has it at the back of the device. The other difference is that the Mate 10 gets the 3.5 mm headphone jack which is missing from the Mate 10 Pro.
The Mate 10 has a price tag of $823 or Euro 699 or Rs 54,000 and will be available next month.
Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design
The Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design comes with similar specs and design like the Mate 10 Pro. However, Huawei has made it even more premium and exquisite using the glass uni-body construction, handcrafted exterior. It is exclusively available only in black diamond color.
There is Porsche branding at the back of the device, which is an added symbol of luxury. The Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design comes with 6 GB of ram and a massive 256 GB of internal storage.
Notably, it comes with an eye-watering price tag of $1645 or Rs 108,495 and will go on sale later next month.
All the Huawei (Mate 10 Series) phones will be available in some of the European Countries, China, and Saudi Arabia. Although there is no mention of India launch and we are not expecting that to happen at least in 2017.
Huawei Nova 2i Has Dual Rear and Dual Selfie Camera Setup
Huawei is going to join the 18:9 ratio, Full View display, bandwagon with its upcoming high-end Phone – Mate 10. However, before they could launch the flagship; they’ve released a mid-range phone called Nova 2i with the “Entire View” display. Interestingly, the smartphone comes with 4 cameras.
Huawei’s Nova series have always created a hype, either with the design resemblance to an existing flagship or by being the first smartphone to offer nifty camera features.
Nova 2i is similar to Huawei Maimang 6.
The Nova 2i is identical to the phone recently launched in China called Maimang 6. Anyways, it now belongs to the Nova series and gets a global brand name.
Design-wise, the phone looks very stylish and premium with its metallic back cover and 2.5D curved glass. It is one of the first Huawei smartphones to come with the bezel-less display. The low bezel display is becoming more common in 2017, and most likely your next phone will also be bezel-less.
The Nova 2i flaunts a 5.99 inch, Full HD+ (2160*1440) pixels, 18:9 ratio display, offering minimal bezels on all sides.
The top bezels are acceptable as it houses an earpiece, front cameras, proximity sensors. The bottom bezel could have been minimal if they removed the Huawei logo and designed it like the Samsung S8.
Moreover, the Nova 2i has a similar design as the Maimang 6 and upcoming Mate series.
Huawei Nova 2i Comes with 4 Camera Setup – 2 at the front and 2 at the back.
The highlight of the smartphone is the four camera set-up. Most phones come with either a dual camera set-up at the back or only at the front.
Huawei has managed to cramp in dual camera set-up on both the sides.
At the front, the Huawei Nova 2i comes with a 2 MP camera (depth sensor) paired with the main 13 MP front-facing sensor.
The back side has a 16 MP primary camera paired with a 2 Megapixel depth-sensor, to enable the bokeh effect on the images.
Further, Huawei promises a huge change in the image results because of the presence of these depth sensors compared to their earlier phones, with 2 same size sensors – one monochrome and other RGB.
A New Processor – Kirin 659
The Huawei Nova 2i is driven by their in-house Kirin 659 SOC, paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. It runs on Brobdingnagian 3340 mAh battery, can easily last all day.
The mobile has Android Nougat 7.0 OS with EMUI v5.1 out of the box. It ’s a letdown, if not Oreo, Huawei should have shipped it with the Nougat 7.1.1.
Gesture-based UI has always been Huawei’s selling point. Even the past EMUI iterations came with gestures, be it on screen or the fingerprint sensor. This time they’ve included new gestures such as, “ Drawing S with your knuckle to capture a long screenshot.”
There are few more features like tapping twice with 2 fingers to start screen recording, can be quite useful.
There are no details on the pricing / global launch so far, but we know that the Nova 2i will be up for grabs in Blue, Black, and Gold color variants. We will keep you posted if Huawei plans to bring the 4 camera mobile to Indian shores.
Huawei P10 and P10 Plus Great Camera Phones (Not Coming To India Soon)
Huawei has been very active in launching cool new gadgets year after year. Their previous flagship, Huawei P9 was well received worldwide. It not only catered to tech enthusiasts but also focused on people wanting a near DSLR experience on their phone itself.
Huawei has also recently launched the Huawei V9 and the incredibly designed Huawei Honor Magic.
The Huawei P9 nailed it in terms of design and overall form factor. The all-new P10 series follows the same legacy but in a more refined way. It’s still as thin as the P9, measures at 6.98 mm and weighs at 145 g and 165 g (P10 Plus) respectively.
Design and Key Features
Design wise the phone flaunts polished and rounded edges but still retains the flat back for better grip. To make it less slippery, Huawei has come up with a new hyper diamond cut process. It basically provides a textured back and adds a better grip compared to other metallic phones.
The back retains the glass strip covering the dual camera lens along with laser auto-focus and NFC under it. The phone does have some design elements of Google Pixel. The visor at the back is the iconic look to the P series carried from the P8 which was released back in 2015.
It still has the antenna lines but has taken a more iPhone 7 like approach to conceal them.
Surprisingly, Huawei this time has gone with a front mounted fingerprint sensor like the Huawei Mate 9 Pro. While, the Mate 9 Pro sports a physical button, the P10 series features “under the glass sensor.”
Although, the all-new predictive fingerprint tracking feature is a great feature as It will help the phone understand the usual position of your finger on the sensor based on usage. The fingerprint scanner learns and becomes better with time. With time the whole experience becomes even faster and accurate
The fingerprint scanner comes with some gestures support too like a single tap for going back, long press for home and swipe for recent apps.
Huawei has still kept an option of swapping for on-screen navigation buttons in-case one doesn’t like this implementation of using the home button for navigation. They’ve also promised of adding more features to the sensor in the coming weeks.
Key Specs Huawei P10 and P10 Plus
Both the phones feature top of the line specifications with some minor changes here and there.
The smaller P10 flaunts a 5.1-inch FHD (1080X1920) IPS LCD display. It’s not using an AMOLED display but the color calibration and deeper blacks make it quite vivid.
Whereas the bigger P10 Plus sports a 5.5-inch QHD (2560×1440) IPS LCD display. Both the phone’s displays are protected by the all-new Corning Gorilla Glass 5.0.
The P10 and P10 Plus is driven by Huawei’s in-house HiSilicon Kirin 960 SOC coupled with Mali-G71 MP8 GPU. The processor is paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. While the Plus variants will be available in 64 GB/128 GB variants with 4 GB/6 GB of RAM respectively.
It’s really good to see Huawei moving away from the 32 GB base storage option for the flagship device. The storage can further be expanded up to 256 GB with the help of micro SD cards. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a dedicated storage slot and doesn’t support adaptable storage option like HTC.
The P10 has seen a slight bump to 3200mAh from the 3000mAh found in the P9. The Plus variant still manages to pack in massive 3750mAh battery pack in the 6.9mm nutshell.
Oddly, the P9 lacked any kind of fast charging, which was certainly a let down from a flagship offered in 2016. Well, Huawei has fixed that and opted for their SuperCharge technology through its USB type-C port for both the phones.
Since the spec sheet matches Huawei’s own Mate 9, it’s no surprise that the P series adopt the same charging technology.
OS – Both the phones come with Android N v7.0 and EMUI v5.1 skin out of the box. It’s certainly not v7 1.1 like the Google Pixel, which is absurd as the phone features an upgraded version of EMUI.
P stands for Photography
As the P stands for “Photography”, Huawei has again used Leica lenses which results in the outstanding use of Dual camera technology to compete with other smartphones.
The P 10 series features the sec-gen sensors from Huawei and Leica, which will help them to live up to its standards.
There’s dual 12 MP RGB sensor with OIS + 20 MP Monochrome sensor with f/2.2 aperture at the back. It’s a significant upgrade from the dual 12 MP sensors found in P9.
While the P 10 Plus comes with the same setup but with the smaller aperture for more crisp and better results. The dual 12MP + 20MP sensors come with f/1.8 aperture.
At the front, the phones sport an 8MP selfie shooter with f/1.9 aperture.
