Samsung is all set to unveil the new smartphones Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 at an upcoming event in New Delhi on 16 July 2015.
Update – 16-03-2016 – Samsung has launched the new smartphones, The Samsung Galaxy J7 is priced at Rs. 14,999 and the Samsung galaxy J5 is priced at Rs. 11,999. The pricing is attractive considering Samsung has a much stronger brand value compared to the Chinese counter-parts.

The smartphone are focused on mid range young buyers who like to click a lot of pictures and selfies. These are the first smartphones which Samsung is launching with Front Camera Flash, along with flash support for the rear camera.
The Front camera on both Samsung Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 is 5 MP with Wide Angle camera Lens and comes with flash for clicking images in low light conditions.
The rear camera on both the smartphone is a 13 MP shooter with Autofocus, HDR+ and f/1.9 aperture. The smartphone offers a variety of software enhancement for the images clicked by the front as well as the rear camera.
The smartphones were unveiled in the Chinese market last month and were priced at $290(Rs. 17,500) for the galaxy J7 and $220 (Rs. 14,000) for the Galaxy J5.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 is powered by the Octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor and is clocked at 1.4 Ghz in the international version the Indian version has 1.5 GHz + Exynos 7580, Octa Core . The Snapdragon 615 also powers many other smartphones like the top selling Micromax Yureka.
The Samsung J7 has 1.5 GB RAM for doing multi-tasking and simultaneous opening of various Android Apps. Samsung could have been a little generous, and should have bundled 2 GB RAM which is almost there for all smartphones in price range close to Rs. 10,000.
The smartphone runs on the latest Android Lollipop along with the touch-wiz UI. Samsung has definitely done well to bundle the latest OS from Google with the new range of smartphones, a mistake which has costed Samsung in the near past.
The Samsung Galaxy J7 has a 5.5 inch screen with HD (1280*720) resolution. The PPI is 267 for the display panel. The screen is TFT display panel vs the usual AMOLED screen we are used to seeing on the Samsung’s more expensive smartphones.
The smartphone has 16 GB of internal storage and offers an expansion slot which can be used with a 128 GB capacity micro-sd card.
The Samsung J7 is a dual sim device with connectivity support for high speed 4G/3G Data along with native 2G/edge/WIFI and Bluetooth support.
The smartphone has 7.99 mm thickness and weighs 168 grams which is okay for a smartphone with 5.5 inch screen size.
The best feature I would say for the Samsung J7 is going to be battery life other than the camera capabilities. The J7 packs 3000 mAH battery capacity which can easily last all day.

The Samsung J5 has a similar design to the larger sized galaxy J7. The Galaxy J7 has 5.0 inch screen with HD (1280*720) resolution with 298 PPI.
The Samsung J5 runs on the Snapdragon 410 64 bit processor. The processor is Quad – Core and is clocked at 1.2 Ghz. The Galaxy J5 like it’s elder sibling packs 1.5 GB of RAM and runs on Android Lollipop with touch-wiz UI.
The smartphone also has the same 13 MP rear camera , and the 5 MP front camera with flash support.
The Storage is 16 GB, expandable to 128 GB using the micro-sd card.
The smartphone has a slightly lower capacity battery , 2600 mAH, though will offer almost similar battery life to J7 owing to the fact the J7 has a larger display and a more power hungry processor.
The smartphone weighs 149 grams and is slightly thicker to the Samsung Galaxy J7. The J5 measures 8.49 mm in thickness vs 7.99 mm of thickness for the galaxy J7.
Smartphone has 4G/3G and other native connectivity options along with the Dual Sim capacity.
Both the smartphones will be available in 3 color variants – Black, White and Gold when they go on sale in the coming days.
