Lenovo has become very aggressive in the smartphone market and wants to take on the major Mobile players. With the recent launch of Lenovo A7000 it is strengthening it’s smartphone portfolio for budget android buyers. Lenovo has been raising the bar for itself with outstanding smartphones offering good specs for a budget price.
Lenovo A7000 appears as the successor to the current hot selling Lenovo A6000 which is exclusively available on Flipkart for an attractive price of Rs. 6,999.
The announced price for Lenovo A7000 is $169 (Rs. 10,200) but my hunch is that it will get pitched against the Micromax Yu Yureka at Rs. 8,999 when it goes on sale in April 2015.
Update 10/April/2015: – The Lenovo A7000 is launched on Flipkart at Rs. 8,999 and will be on sale on 15 April 2015, @ 2:00 PM IST.
What is New in The Lenovo A7000
Lenovo A7000 comes with notable upgrades compared to it’s younger sibling Lenovo A 6000. The major updates are a faster processor, higher RAM size, Digital Dolby Audio, better front camera, larger screen and off course slightly higher price.
The Lenovo A 7000 borrows it’s Looks from the A6000 though have a bigger frame. The volume rocker and power buttons are metallic and rest of the frame is plastic. The smartphone comes in white and black colors, if you were looking for a colored smartphone you will be disappointed. The smartphone is not very chunky and measures just 7.9 mm and also weighs 140 grams which is not much for a 5.5 inch screen smartphone.
Display is 5.5 inch IPS LCD screen with 1280*720 resolution and a pixel density of 267. The Lenovo A6000 has same resolution with a 5 inch screen size.
The Lenovo A7000 is powered by the newly launched Mediatek 6752 Octacore Processor – 8-core, 1500 MHz, ARM Cortex-A53, 64-bit. It is a 64 Bit processor capable of handling 64 Bit OS and also offers 4G LTE support. The A6000 also has the 64bit snapdragon 410 processor, however the meditek Octa core may deliver higher performance. The RAM size has been increased from 1 GB on A6000 to 2GB for the A7000..
Storage & OS
The internal storage is 8 GB on the Lenovo A7000 which can be expanded to 32 GB via micro SD card same as the A6000 here the Micromax Yu Yureka scores higher with 16 GB internal storage. The smartphone will come with Android Lollipop which is great for the users as it better compared to the Android Kitkat with many subtle upgrades like the layered material design and no interruption features and lock screen notifications
Lenovo has bumped up the front camera specs on the new A7000 to 5 MP to go with the current need for clicking selfie’s. The rear camera is an 8 MP shooter with auto focus and led flash, same specs as the A 6000.
Lenovo A7000 is backed by a 2,900 mAh battery which is 25% bigger than the battery of A6000 (2,300mAh). But the larger screen size and Mediatek Octacore processor may consume more battery compared to the 5 inch screen on Lenovo A6000 with Snapdragon processor. Battery Life may actually increase on the Lenovo A7000 Vs a A6000.
Lenovo has experimented with the sound engine for the New Lenovo A7000 to give a treat to the Audiophiles. Lenovo has partnered with Audio company Dolby to squeeze its Atmos tech into the A7000. The Lenovo A7000 will offer a unique music experience with Dolby Surround sound, which will add effects like we observe in multi-channel audio in a home theater. We will have to wait for more user reviews for this to know how well it is accepted. There are currently some great music phones available in Market – You can check here.
