Lenovo K8 Note Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Comparison – Best Choice

Redmi Note 4 Vs Lenovo K8 Note

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

5 Most Popular Phones in India in 2017

The design overall is not revolutionary compared to Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Although the presence of stronger metal structure with those flat sides; makes it a pleasure to hold. Fortunately, the speaker placement has been changed from back to the traditional bottom firing.

Better placement results into a better sound output. The micro USB port is flanked by the microphone and speaker grills.  Overall the design is pleasing, and the metallic smartphone looks more premium than its price tag.

Lenovo K8 Note

K8 Note is breath of fresh air when compared to K6 Note. It still retains the metal unibody design. The front looks clean with some sensors, off-screen navigation buttons and no brandings.

The back is where the major change has taken place. While it does look inspirational to some extent, the vertically placed dual camera set-up makes it look somewhat unique. Overall it gives a minimal look with just the Lenovo branding at the bottom.

According to Lenovo, it takes almost 40 minutes to build one K8 Note. The K8 Note also comes with a robust metallic design and is quite sturdy.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

It sports a 5.5-inch FHD IPS LCD display. Although, this time they’ve gone with 2.5D curved glass on top instead of a flat glass; found on Redmi Note 3. The front looks more premium and elegant.

The display is bright enough and has a good color reproduction.

The off-screen navigation buttons are backlight as well which makes it easier to use in darker conditions. Apparently, the buttons still sport Samsung’s orientation.

It means the back is on the right and the recent apps is on the left. Although, one can quickly change this under the settings.

Lenovo K8 Note

It also sports a 5.5-inch FHD IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved glass on top. The panel is bright and colorful enough to make it look vibrant.

The phone ships with their official black wallpaper with gold accent number 8 on top. It shows how deeper the blacks can get in this panel and makes it immersive enough as possible for an LCD panel.

Sadly, the off-screen navigation buttons aren’t backlighted that can be a trade-off for many, especially when their rivals do have it.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

It runs on of the most power efficient chipset from Qualcomm aka Octa-Core 64 Bit Snapdragon 625 SOC clocked at 2.0 GHz. The processor is coupled with 3 GB/4 GB of RAM with 32 GB/64 GB of storage respectively.

The storage can be expanded by using up the hybrid SIM slot. This can be a bummer for people opting for the 32 GB variant.

Lenovo K8 Note

It packs a powerful 10 Core 64 Bit MediaTek Helio X23 SOC coupled with similar 3 GB/4 GB RAM variants. It’s then paired with 32 GB/64 GB of internal storage options.

Surprisingly, Lenovo has given a dedicated micro SD card slot for the heavy users out there. It’ll allow users to use 2 SIMs and a micro SD card at one time.

Performance/Benchmark Scores

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Redmi Note 4 was plenty fast with its Snapdragon 625 SOC. The presence of 4GB of RAM made everything smooth and enhanced the performance overall.

Benchmark Scores For Redmi Note 4

  • 65,560 in AnTuTu
  • 42,690 in Quadrant
  • 9,029 points in 3D Mark Ice Storm Extreme
  • 28fps; T-Rex test in GFXbench

Lenovo K8 Note

Lenovo decided to pack in a powerful MediaTek chipset compared to Snapdragon 600 series.

The Helio X23 SOC with 4GB of RAM results in a stutter-free performance and smooth transitions.  It manages to score; pretty high compared to other phones.

Benchmark Scores for Lenovo K8 Note

  • 86,340 in AnTuTu
  • 54,014 in Quadrant
  • 11,151 in 3DMark Ice Storm Extreme
  • 33fps in GFXBench

Lenovo has hit the ball out of the park, with pretty high scores overall. Currently, it’s the only phone at this price range, dominating other phones out there.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Cameras have not been the strongest point for Xiaomi phones till date. The Note 4 continues this legacy by offering a set of optics which is good but could have been better.

At the back, it sports a 13 MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and PDAF. It focuses on objects/subjects quickly and has smooth transition effects as well. The 1.12 µm pixel size and f/2.0 aperture allow great details and plenty of light for low-light shots. While panning through different dynamic ranges, the transition is smooth enough and doesn’t create any stuttery movements. Sadly, it’s not capable of recording 4K videos and instead records 1080p @ 30fps.

While panning through different dynamic ranges, the transition is smooth enough and doesn’t create any stuttery movements. Sadly, it’s not capable of recording 4K videos and instead records 1080p @ 30fps.

At the front, the phone sports 5 MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The selfies come out bright, crisp enough to be shared on social media platforms. The front cam can also record videos @ 1080p. Although, it’s nothing to write home about.

K8 Note

Lenovo has focused on offering dual camera set-up this time. The K8 Note flaunts 13 MP + 5 MP Dual rear camera. Further, One can quickly change the aperture from f/1.8 – f/2.8 in the depth mode. It allows the user to create a bokeh effect by keeping the subject in focus and blurring out the background.

Since it’s a newly released smartphone; few more updates based on camera improvements can quickly iron out the problems it’s facing as of now.

Apart from Honor 6X, Coolpad Dual 1; the K8 Note is the only smartphone offering a dual rear camera set-up at this price range.

At the front, the phone has 13 MP selfie shooter along with front LED flash. The overall selfies come detailed and can also be clicked in dark scenarios with the help of the dedicated front flash.

Lenovo K8 Note is an easy winner here.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Xiaomi phones are known for their MIUI OS; which is a completely redesigned take on Android.  The MIUI 8 compliments every single Xiaomi phone and is a stable Os with fewer bugs.

Apparently, the heavy skinned version of Android Marshmallow makes it impossible for Xiaomi to pass through updates at faster rates.  Now Xiaomi has started shipping the Redmi Note 4 with Android Nougat 7.0 and Miui 8.

While they can pass security patches with slight delay; the major updates like Android N is almost a year late. Which is a bad sign for people hoping for faster updates?

Overall it works fine, and MIUI is worth using on Xiaomi devices.

K8 Note

Lenovo’s Vibe UI has been criticized for better or for worse. After the 4 K Note iterations; they’ve finally decided to ditch the Vibe UI entirely from all their devices.

Lenovo taking over Motorola has paid off well for the company. As now they can opt for the stock android present on the current Motorola devices.

The combination of reliable hardware with the latest stock Android N v7.1.1 is the best thing you could ask.

This is the first Lenovo smartphone running the stock Android UI. Hence, it’s a long shot to decide whether they’ll give significant updates with latest security patches at a faster rate now.

Although, the presence of the stock version, gives us a hope of expecting it. The Chinese smartphones in this price range don’t stand a chance when compared to phones running stock Android.

Hopefully, this will clear the track record of Lenovo for good.

Winner- Lenovo K8 Note

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes with a great battery capacity of 4000 mAH which can efficiently work all day. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor is impressive and is also highly energy efficient compared to the MediaTek X23.

Unfortunately, RN4 doesn’t support any fast charging; through its micro USB port. Besides, It can take almost 2.5 to 3 hours to charge the device from 0% – 100%.

Lenovo K8 Note

All the K Note series have good battery life along with the above average audio output. Moreover, the K8 Note packs a mammoth 4000 mAh battery.

Notably, K8 Note supports “Turbo Charging,” through its micro USB port.

Conclusion – Lenovo K8 Note Vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Comparison – Best Choice

Overall both the phones offer bang for the buck, while you get the Redmi Note 4 cheaper by Rs. 1,000 compared to the Lenovo K8 Note. (both the 32 GB storage and 64 GB storage)

The K8 Note, on the other hand, shows some real advantages over the Xaiomi Redmi Note 4 – a faster processor, better rear and front selfie camera, Stock Android Nougat, Turbo-charging support and Dolby Audio. The Lenovo K8 Note is also spill proof unlike the Redmi Note 4.

The Redmi Note 4 is slightly cheaper and comes with the Snapdragon 625 that is less prone to heating and offers excellent battery life. Besides, it has a robust build and design.

Finally, It is a close call between the two smartphones, and you can pick up either based on your preferences.

The Lenovo K8 Note and Coolpad Cool Play 6 has several resemblances with each other.

The design of both the phones is nearly the same, followed by the same display size, dual camera setup, and even the battery capacity is the same in both the phones. But they have some factors which distinguish them from each other.

Lenovo K8 Note Vs Coolpad Cool Play 6 Comparison

Moreover, the rear camera setup is also similar on both the phones. Though the K8 Note looks slightly more premium and robust in construction.

The smartphone comes with a massive 6 GB of RAM. The 6 GB RAM is the key highlight for the Coolpad Cool Play 6 and makes it stand out in the crowd of mid-range phones.

This section comes as a tie. However, Cool Play 6 has better multitasking because of the massive 6 GB RAM inside the device.

Antutu score for the Coolpad Coolplay 6 is close 75,000 while the Lenovo K8 Note scores close to 83,000.

4). Price, Storage, and RAM

As mentioned above the Lenovo K8 Note comes in two storage and Ram versions – K8 Note with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB is priced at Rs. 12999 and the 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage version is priced at Rs. 13,999. The storage is expandable on the Lenovo K8 Note and comes with a dedicated micro-sd card slot which supports upto 128 GB of capacity.

On the hand, the Coolpad Coolplay 6 comes with 64 GB of inbuilt storage which is not expandable, so you can’t use a memory card with the smartphone. The Coolplay 6 is priced at Rs. 14,999 in the Indian market.

On the flip side, the K8 Note also comes with Dual Rear Camera setup and has a 13 MP Pure Cel Plus sensor at the back, along with a 5 MP secondary sensor. So, the Cool Play 6 wins the race, going by specs. Both the cameras are decent and in practical scenario offer close performance.

Selfie Cameras – The Cool Play 6 has a decent 8 MP front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture, while the K8 Note has a much powerful 13 MP front-facing camera along with the front Led Flash. The selfie enthusiasts will prefer to get with the K8 Note.

5) Operating System and Experience

The Lenovo K8 Note is one of the first smartphones from Lenovo which comes with stock Android Experience as they have stopped using the Lenovo Vibe UI, The Lenovo K8 Note comes with fast and fluid stock Android Nougat 7.1.

On the other hand, the Coolpad CoolPlay 6 also comes with the Android Nougat 7.1 but comes with custom Journey UI which comes with some special Apps like freezer, backup and transfers adding some more essential features to the plains stock Android experience.

5). Battery Life

As said earlier, the phones come with a decent 4000mAh battery. Along with Lenovo’ stock Android optimizations, the K8 Note will deliver insane battery life. Both the phones have fast charging support as well.

Conclusion – Lenovo K8 Note Vs Coolpad Cool Play 6 Comparison – The Better Choice

The Lenovo K8 Note and Cool Play 6 are one of the best smartphones available right now in India. If you want more RAM and Snapdragon chipset, then you can buy the Coolpad Coolplay 6.

Lenovo has Launched the New Lenovo K8 Smartphone, Priced at Rs 10,499

Lenovo is aggressive as a wounded Lion right now, in just two months, Lenovo has launched three smartphones in India.

Lenovo has been losing market share to Xiaomi, and are way behind to challenge Samsung. But the company is trying hard to gain market share with quick new phone launches.

The Lenovo K8 Note with dual cameras, MediaTek Helio X23 chip; the Lenovo K8 Plus with dual cameras MediaTek Helio P25 chip, and today they have launched, the least expensive Lenovo K8.

The Lenovo K8 is priced at Rs. 10,499 and will be available only in retail stores. On the other hand, the earlier product K8 Note is an Amazon exclusive, while the K8 Plus is available only on Flipkart.

Lenovo K8 launched Image-1

Lenovo as a Brand is Fighting Hard to Win Customer Share

Lenovo transformed itself as a brand this year because nothing was going the company’s way. The Lenovo P2 was a decent device launched this year, but it failed, due to poor marketing and slower than a turtle software updates.

One thing which comes to mind, when we think of Lenovo, it is the transition of the brand to become more like Motorola.

Some fundamental changes that Lenovo has done are, they removed the Vibe UI and started using the stock Android OS in the Lenovo K8 series to fasten the update process.

They have gone with a more consumer-friendly approach, and that is what will help them grow in the Indian market.

The Lenovo K8 is the third smartphone in the K8 series, and it also comes with stock Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Also, the K8 will receive Android Oreo in 2018, but Lenovo has not revealed the exact date.

Lenovo K8 Key Specifications

For starters, it comes with watered down specifications in comparison to Lenovo K8 Note and K8 Plus. The K8 has a 5.2-inch HD screen which seems to be inadequate as Lenovo K8 has a price tag of Rs. 10,499.

Lenovo at least should have gone with a Full HD screen.

The phone is fuelled by the MediaTek Helio P20 chipset, a slightly less powerful version of the Helio P25 processor used in the Lenovo K8 Plus. This chipset draws power from a 4000 mAh battery which can keep the phone alive for a full day without the need for a second charge.

The Lenovo K8 is bundled with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.

The storage can also be expanded up to 128 GB with a micro-SD card.

The Lenovo K8 comes with a single 13 MP rear camera with PDAF support and LED flash. An 8 MP sensor adores the front for selfies and video calls. The phone has 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and micro USB.

Lenovo also included USB OTG support in the Lenovo K8.

Finally, the price for the Lenovo K8 is set at Rs. 10,499, and it can only be purchased in the offline market. Lenovo has previously launched the Lenovo K8 Note.

Lenovo K6 Power India Launch

After a week of teasing on the social media websites, Twitter and Facebook, Lenovo has launched the new Lenovo K6 Power. Lenovo called media and bloggers to an event in New Delhi today for the unveiling of the new K6 smartphone. Mr. Anuj Sharma, Head of Product and marketing at Lenovo, took the center stage to explain in-depth about the Lenovo K6 Power

Lenovo has also confirmed that the Lenovo K6 Power will be exclusive to Flipkart and will go on sale on 6th December 2016 at 12:00 PM.

Lenovo K6 Power is priced at Rs. 9,999 and competes with the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Lenovo has emphasized that the smartphone will have kickass battery life.

The  Lenovo Vibe K6 Power was launched by Lenovo, at IFA Berlin, in Sept’16. Lenovo K6 Power was unveiled along with the Lenovo Vibe K6 and the K6 Note. Lenovo has only launched the K6 Power in India and has not launched the other 2 devices.

Lenovo Vibe K6 Power

The key highlight of the Lenovo K6 Power, as the name suggests, is its battery life. Notably, the Lenovo K6 Power comes with 4000 mAH battery capacity. The smartphone offers all-day battery life with long usage hours. The K6 Power also supports reversible charging like Asus Zenfone Max and you can charge other devices from K6 Power. Lenovo claims that the smartphone can offer 48 hours of voice calls and 12.6 hours of web surfing on a single charge.

The smartphone also comes with an ultimate power saver mode which can extend the battery life. It makes the essential apps to run while stops the background apps and extends the battery life.

The Lenovo K6 Power has Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, clocked at 1.4 GHz. It is a new Octa-Core SOC from Qualcomm, though it uses 28 Nm process for manufacturing. The processor has 64 Bit architecture and is previously used by Xiaomi in Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S prime.

The Lenovo K6 Power comes with a metallic design and Lenovo is calling the design as Alton Barnes Design. It is more symmetrical than most of the devices and Mr. Anuj gave an example of the equidistant placement of camera, flash and a rear fingerprint scanner on the K6.

In addition to SD 430, the K6 Power comes with Adreno 505 GPU, which is great for gaming. The smartphone has a 5.0 inch IPS LCD display and has a Full HD resolution. The 1080P display comes with 441 pixels per inch, which is excellent for reading and watching videos.

Lenovo K6 Power With 4000 mAH Battery India Launch

The K6 Power will be available in 1 variant with 32 GB storage and 3 GB RAM.

The smartphone comes in 3 colors – Dark Grey, Silver, and Gold. In the optics section, it comes with 13 Megapixel rear camera with Auto-focus support and LED Flash. Lenovo has done something special for selfie lovers by including a decent 8 Megapixel front camera with the K6 Power.

The Lenovo K6 Power comes with Dual Sim support and there is also a micro-sd card slot to expand the storage to 128 GB. The Vibe K6 runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 along with the Vibe UI, which offers a near-stock Android experience. It is not as deliberately modded as Lenovo mobiles used to be 2 years back, like A6600 or the A7000.

The Lenovo Vibe K6 comes with standard connectivity options with 4G LTE, Bluetooth and WIFI support. The smartphone also supports VOLTE and will work with JIO, Idea , Airtel and Vodafone 4G networks.

The Lenovo K6 Power comes with 9.3 mm thickness and is not a very thin profile device due to a smaller 5.0-inch size and mammoth 4000 mAH battery. The smartphone weighs 145 grams, which is passable.

Overall the K6 Power looks promising and Lenovo has kept the pricing aggressive to continue its rapid growth in the Indian market and maintain it’s number 2 position.

Specs Compare Lenovo P2 Vs Lenovo K6 Power

Lenovo and Motorola are gaining market share in India and as per the recent report, they are ahead of Micromax, which was number 2 in India for very long. Lenovo has been aggressive with new product launches in India with several new phones coming out every month.

Having said that, Lenovo’s recent releases P2 and K6 Power are the perfect examples of it.

Lenovo K6 Power

While the K6 Power competes with the likes of Redmi 3S Prime, Redmi Note 3 etc. The more powerful sibling P2 competes with Moto G4 Plus, Lenovo’s own Z2 Plus.

Although both the handsets fall in different price range but cater to users looking for great battery life mobile. While K6 Power has a smaller form factor with features like fingerprint sensor, bigger battery and a budget price of Rs. 9,999.

The elder sibling P2 aims at consumers looking for a more premium, long battery life smartphone. The P2 is priced at Rs. 16,999 for 3 GB RAM version while the 4 GB version is priced at Rs. 17,999.

Lenovo P2

The K6 Power measures in at 141.9 x 70.3 x 9.3 mm and weighs at 145 grams. On the other hand, the P2 measures in at 153 x 76 x 8.3 mm and weighs approx 177 grams.

While both the smartphones are not the thinnest in the world, they surely are slim and light for the massive batteries they come with.

The K6 Power sports a 5-inch FHD (1920×1080) display. Whereas, the P2 sports a 5.5-inch FHD (1920×1080) AMOLED display. Also, the AMOLED display in P2 makes the display more superior compared to the K6 Power.

Powering the mobile is an Octa-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SOC. Whereas, the P2 runs on Octa-core 2.0 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Processor. The former comes with 3GB /4 GB of ram, the latter also comes with 3GB/4GB of ram.

The SD430 is the best amongst the entry-level smartphones whereas the SD625 is the most power efficient, if not the best!

Notably, the P2 runs on the old Android Marshmallow 6.0 version out of the box. It is not clear whether both the smartphones will get Android Nougat 7.0 update.

For imaging, we have a 13 MP camera at the back and an 8 MP selfie shooter at the front. The P2 also has an improved 13 MP rear camera, and at the front, it has a 5 MP camera, which seems to have less megapixel compared to its sibling K6. The P2 has better camera compared to the K6 Power.

Moreover, it comes with 32 GB internal storage and has 3 GB of ram. Also, there is another 4 GB RAM variant that is launched recently and will go on sale on Flipkart starting 31st Jan 2016. Both the variants have expandable storage up to 128 GB with the help of micro SD cards.

The Lenovo P2 sports 32GB with the 3GB ram version while the 4 GB ram version has 64 GB of internal storage. Similar to all the Lenovo mobiles the P2 can comes with expandable storage upto 128 GB through micro SD card.

Battery and Connectivity

The K6 Power sports 4000 mAH battery, while the P2 packs even bigger 5100 mAh battery capacity. Sadly the K6 doesn’t feature fast charging. Whereas P2 features fast charging which can charge it much quicker than the K6 Power.

For connectivity, all of them offer 4G/LTE support, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.

Conclusion Lenovo P2 Vs Lenovo K6 Power Which is Better Choice

In conclusion, the Lenovo K6 Power is a decent option for Rs. 10,000 with good battery back up. On the other hand, the Lenovo P2 comes with a better Super AMOLED panel, a slightly larger 5.5 Inch Display, more power efficient and faster Snapdragon 625 Processor. Also, it has a better camera when in comparison to the Lenovo K6 Power. Perhaps, it depends on your budget. which mobile you should opt for. In my opinion, both are good deals for the price tag.
