In this review  we will cover in detailed un-boxing, gaming performance, camera samples features and user experience.

The Lenovo K4 Note smartphone is now available on Amazon without any flash sale.

The Lenovo K4 Note is the new top selling smartphone launched on 19 January 2016 on Amazon India. Lenovo K4 Note is the successor to the Lenovo K3 Note and comes with better camera quality and hardware specs and definitely better build quality. We have a video review of the Lenovo K4 Note at the end of the article.

In-depth Lenovo K4 Note Review

The smartphone offers really good specs and features for an affordable price of Rs. 11,999.

The Lenovo K4 Note is code named Lenovo A7010a48 and the model number is mentioned on the box as well as all the benchmarks.

The Lenovo K4 Note was launched on 5th January 2016 in India and the first sale happened on 19 January 2016 on Amazon.

The device is available only on Amazon India for a price tag of Rs. 11,999. You can also buy the VR Bundle with it for an additional Rs. 500.

We ordered the smartphone on 19th of January in the flash sale in which all the 10,000 Lenovo K4 Note mobiles got sold in under 1 second.

The next sale happened on 20th Jan 2016 and 60,000 K4 Note were sold in my estimate sharp 15 minutes. Now the smartphone will be available in open sale starting February 15 on Amazon India and there is no need to participate in flash sales to buy the Lenovo K4 Note.

There is a huge demand for the Lenovo K4 Note and why not it offers some of the best features and also have a wide service and distribution network in India.

So far I have spent 24 hours with the smartphone as I sat down to write the review. I will be spending some more time with the device and more details and performance related details will be share in next 2-3 device after playing some more with the gorgeous K4 Note.

I will try to include more images in the review so you get the best possible Idea about the smartphone. Which will eventually help you decide if you wish to purchase the device.

Update (10-Feb-2016) – The Lenovo K4 Note will be available without any registration through the open sale starting from 15th February 2016 on Amazon India. You will be able to buy the smartphone without any hassles of the flash sale.

Lenovo K4 Note competes with LeECO Le 1S and the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 smartphones. It also has competition from Yureka Plus , K3 Note and Moto Turbo.

Un-boxing Lenovo K4 Note

The Lenovo K4 Note comes in a surprisingly small box with white color and a large Lenovo K4 Note. The packaging is nice and at the back of the box you can find the IMEI details and Model number A7010a48. The first impression of the device really give a positive feeling that it is worth the hype.

Lenovo K4 Note Box Pack

The first expression for the device, you will really feel happy to see the fine build quality and the Dual Speaker grill offers stunning premium looks.

In The Box

You will get the following inside the tiny box.

  1. Lenovo K4 Note Smartphone.
  2. Lenovo Charger AC adapter.
  3. USB cable.
  4. Screen Guard.
  5. Lenovo K4 Note Manual .
  6. Back cover for the K4 Note.

Lenovo K4 Note Review – A picked up the device and was bit surprised to see a transparent back cover already placed on the Lenovo K4 Note. The plastic cover looks shiny and for a moment it gave a feeling like the glass back cover of the Samsung Note 5 or galaxy S6.

In-depth Lenovo K4 Note Review

I removed the shiny cover and the back side has black matte finish polycarbonate back cover which is quite difficult to tell if it is plastic or metal.

The actual back cover provided decent grip, not at all slippery to use.  The edges are refined and the silver color finish looks premium, the metal is well polished and you will find the device smooth and easy to operate.

If you ask me the K4 Note looks good, my vote is yes it is one of the better looking smartphones out there. The silver finish on the edges and the black metallic frame and the Dual speakers make it look great.

Does the K4 Note feels heavy or thick ? I will say no when I first held the One Plus 2 and tried it,  it felt heavy but the K4 Note is lighter for it’s size weighing 158 grams and also didn’t feel too thick in hand.

In-depth Lenovo K4 Note Review

The Dual Speakers make it resemble some of the gorgeous looking HTC mobiles. If we compare it to Yu Yureka or K3 Note , looks are far better.

No issues as far as the design is concerned, however the top and bottom has a 2 Stereo sound speakers which take quite a bit of space above and below the screen.

There are only two buttons on the right side of the device, power button and the volume rocker , which are also sturdy.

The top side of the smartphone has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and the bottom side has a microphone opening along with the micro USB.

At the back of the smartphone you have a 13 mega pixel camera , along with the Dual tone flash and the finger print scanner right below the camera lens.

On the back side of the device you can see Lenovo and Dolby Atmos written in light grey shade, while there is nothing written on the front side of the K4 Note.

Lenovo Vibe K4 Note battery and Dual Sim images

The battery is quite large and the Dual Slim slots are located above the battery compartment. Both the sims can be used as 4G LTE there is a hidden micro-sim slot which you can miss and there is even a symbol on the second slim slot which looks more like a hybrid slot symbol.

You can use both the Sims and the Micro SD card too with the lenovo K4 Note, there is no hybrid slim slot on the device.

The rear poly-carbonate cover is really easy to take out and fit back.

Build Quality

Build quality is at par or better compared to the Motorola Moto G smartphones or even compared to Samsung devices like the J7 or the J5 Lenovo K4 Note offers decent design and quality. When we compared the device to the Lenovo K3 Note, Lenovo has done a lot of work on the build and finish. The build quality for the Lenovo K4 Note is better than the Coolpad Note 3.

While the K3 Note was more about performance alone the K4 Note also bring the stunning looks and much better build.

Clarity – The Full HD display with 1920*1080 resolution comes with 403 PPI. Apart from being a full HD display the K4 Note screen offers good brightness and contrast. The K4 Note display comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is scratch resistant.

The display is quite bright and is easily visible in the outdoors during the day time.

Reading text was a pleasure on the screen, with each and every word looking clear and there is no pixilation which I sometimes observe on the HD display devices.

Colors –  The colors look natural and I found them to be a little oversaturated compared to the Google Nexus 5 screen or my MacBook Pro.

But the colors are vivid and color tones are very close to the natural shade of the color, the whites are really white and blacks true black.

Gaming Performance Review

I played basic games like the temple run 3 and the subway surfer and even the Candy Crush there was no lag experienced during gaming. Here is a detailed Video for the Gaming on Lenovo K4 Note – We played Nova 3 , Modern Combat 5 and Asphalt 8 on the smartphone.

The performance is good but not extraordinary, there was some lag while playing the Aspahlt 8 with Lenovo K4 Note. Modern Combat 5 runs flawlessly on the smartphone while the Nova 3 was a mixed experience.

Camera Performance Lenovo K4 Note Review

The Lenovo K4 Note boasts of a 13 Mega Pixel Rear Camera which comes with a Dual Tone Auto Flash. We checked the Camera in the artificial light and low light conditions and later on also clicked some of the shots outdoors in daylight to see how the camera performs compared to the other smartphone camera’s.

Rear Camera Sample Shots & Review (Lenovo K4 Note)

The rear camera shot was taken at night in the artificial light, the noise levels are lower compared to the Shots taken by Google Nexus 5 or even our point and shoot Canon ISX camera. The rear 13 mega pixel camera is f2.2 ISO-CELL lens.

Pretty impressed with the rear camera color reproduction and ability to focus fast and deliver images with the good clarity.

The Camera UI and application is very basic though, not too many features to play with. You will definitely need the Google official camera App or something like Camera+ by KVAD group available for free on Android Playstore to get the best out of the Lenovo K4 Note Camera.

Over all satisfied with the rear camera as far as low and artificial light is concerned.

The Lenovo K4 Note shot has a little more details and camera absorbs more light compared to the 8 Mega Pixel Camera of Nexus 5.

Not too much difference in the low light shots for both the devices.

Another Early Morning Shot for the Lenovo K4 Note landscape view.

Same Shot taken by the Google Nexus 5, Nexus Shot looks better and more lit and natural toned in this one. But the K4 Note has a better aperture and absorbs more light. Darker areas are more visible in the Lenovo K4 Note shot.

Sample Video Shot with Lenovo K4 Note Back Camera Review – Check the Video Quality of K4 Note.

The Video is shot at night in the artificial light, the video quality is good, subject details are well captured, though there is little noise which we experience even with the best of point and shoot camera.
