Lenovo yesterday launched the K5 Plus smartphone on Flipkart. The smartphone offers exceptional specs for a price of Rs. 8499. Lenovo has also announced that they would be coming for an exchange offer for Lenovo A6000 and A6000 Plus users.
The Lenovo K5 Plus and Lenovo K5 were unveiled last month by Lenovo and now the smartphones will be available for purchase from the e-commerce giant Flipkart starting from 23 march 2016.
The best part is there is no flash sale and it will be an open sale whoever can buy before stock lasts gets the new smartphone. The sale will start on 23 march 12 p.m onwards on Flipkart.
There are lot of features in this smartphone which have not been offered in this price range before.
Display – Lenovo K5 Plus comes with 5 inch Full HD display with 1920*1080 resolution and offers an incredible PPI of 443. There is already a dearth of 5.0 inch smartphones and for those who are not interested in a 5.5 inch large screen mobile this is a great smartphone to purchase.
Performance – The other key highlight for the Lenovo K5 Plus is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor which is successor to the Snapdragon 615 processor. It is an Octa – Core processor clocked at 1.5 Ghz.
It is one of the best processor you can get in this price range and along with the Adreno 405 it offers stunning gaming performance with the 550 Mhz core clock speed. The smartphone comes with 2 GB of Ram which is sufficient for multitasking and handling all tasks.
It is better to buy the faster processor with 2 GB Ram instead of buying a 3 GB Ram with mediocre processor as the Android OS currently don’t use more than 2 GB ram.
OS – The Lenovo K5 Plus will come with the Android Lollipop 5.1 along with the Lenovo’s custom Vibe Ui which has been improving in recent smartphone launches like the Lenovo K4 Note.
Storage – As Lenovo is reducing the amount of bloat which they were earlier shipping with the smartphones like the A6000. The smartphone has got 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 32 GB using a micro-sd card. But the thing with 128 GB micro-sd cards is that the class 10 micro-sd card will cost you a whooping 5.5K which is actually half the cost of Lenovo K5 Plus.
While the price of 64 GB cards are still rational around Rs. 1200 which I think are must buy for people planning to store lots of media on their new smartphones.
Connectivity & Sound – The smartphone has Dual sim support and has got 4G LTE connectivity along with the 3G and 2G support. The smartphone has a Dolby sound system but lacks the Dual front firing speakers I am fond of on the Lenovo K4 Note or the Lenovo Vibe X3.
But it has 2 rear mounted speakers which offers decent sound quality for watching videos and music.
Camera – The Lenovo K5 Plus comes with decent camera for the price range with 13 Mega Pixel rear camera with Auto-focus and Led flash. There is also a front 5 Mega Pixel camera to click selfies.
Battery Life – The smartphone has got ideal 2750 mAH battery capacity which can last all day with medium usage. The device also has a normal weight of 142 grams and thickness of 7.99 mm.
Thoughts – Lenovo has been really aggressive now in the Indian market with some top selling smartphones like A6000 Plus , A7000 , K3 Note and K4 Note. The new Vibe X3 and the K5 Plus adds to the growing arsenal of Lenovo.
The smartphone will be available in Gold , Silver and dark grey colors and at Sub 9k price range it is one of the best mobiles to grab in current market scenario. We will be soon doing a indepth review for the Lenovo K5 Plus , stay tuned to know more.
