Back in June 2018, Lenovo launched 3 new smartphones (Lenovo Z5, K5 Note, and A5) at an event in Beijing.

There were high hopes that Lenovo will launch the Lenovo Z5 in India but the company has launched the more affordable Lenovo A5 and a new Lenovo K9 in the Indian market yesterday.

These are long-awaited launches by Lenovo as the brand is struggling in India in the wake of extreme competition from other Chinese brands.

You can read more about the stunning Lenovo Z5 here. Let’s have a look at the other two mid-range range phones from the Chinese brand.

Both Lenovo K9 and the A5 are available to purchase from Flipkart and will go on sale shortly.

Lenovo K9

The Lenovo K9 is the more expensive of the two and comes with 3 GB ram and 32 GB internal storage. The phone costs Rs. 8,999 and comes in blue and black color options.

The K9 comes with a flashy polyplastic design a bit similar to the Oppo RealMe 1. The phone has an HD+ (1440*720 pixels) display with 2.5D Curved glass and an 18:9 aspect ratio. There is no mention of the Corning Gorilla Glass on the K9 display.

Powering the device is the Mediatek Helio P22 Processor with a clock speed of 2.0 GHz and there is IMG GE8320 GPU with a clock speed of 520 MHz.

Further, the device comes with Android Oreo 8.1 and has the ZUI to enhance the user experience. The K9 has Quad-Cameras (two at the front and two at the back) both with 13+5 MP resolution.

You can click images with portrait mode or can record 1080P videos with the new Lenovo K9. Interestingly, K9 comes with a dedicated flash for both front and rear cameras.

The phone comes with a 3000 mAH battery capacity which seems low as a lot of phones these days are coming with 3500+ mAH capacity battery.

Further, the phone comes with standard connectivity options such as 4G VOLTE, Dual-SIM, Micro-USB port, WIFI and Bluetooth.

The device weighs 160 grams and has an 8 mm thickness. Also, there is a fingerprint scanner at the back of the device for quick unlocking.

Should You buy the Lenovo K9?

There are several good options in the budget of 9K such as the RealME 2, Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi Y2. Also, Asus is planning to launch 2 new phones in India today in the Sub 10k category so you can check those as well.

The K9 looks decent for the price and you can definitely consider it. Now let’s look at the budget offering Lenovo A5.

Lenovo A5 is the second phone apart from the K9, that was launched in India yesterday.

It is fitted with a 5.45-inch IPS display, that comes with an HD+ (720 x 1440) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Its pixel density is higher in comparison to the Lenovo K5 Note at 295 PPI.

Powering the device is a Quad-core MediaTek MT6739 chipset along with PowerVR GE8100 GPU onboard.

One of the most exciting things about the Lenovo A5 given its relatively low price is its very large 4000 mAH battery.

Since the display is small and it comes with a huge battery, it is safe to say that the phone might easily last over a day.

The mobile weighs 160 grams and has a thickness of 9.8 mm.

The Lenovo A5 comes with two inbuilt storage options – 32 GB / 3 GB RAM or 16 GB / 2 GB Ram. The higher variant costs Rs. 6,999 while the smaller variant costs Rs. 5,999.
