Lenovo is selling it in flash sale initially and will go on sale on 19th May 2016.
The Smartphone was priced @ 1799 Yuan or Rs. 18,500 when it got launched in China back in August 2015. The smartphone comes with a good Snapdragon 800 series processor, 3 GB RAM, the largest internal storage on any phone below 15k and also has a fingerprint scanner.
Zuk is the sub-brand launched by Lenovo to counter Xiaomi in China and this is their first smartphone to debut in India. Some days back Lenovo launched the Flagship Zuk Z2 in China powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and mind-blowing 6 GB Ram price at incredibly low (Rs. 20,000).
The Zuk Z1 is international model runs on the Cyanogen MOD 12 and with the underlying basic OS as the Android Lollipop. The same model will debut in India. Though the key highlight is that it runs on Cyanogen Mod.
They earlier partnered with the OnePlus and then later the ties soured and OnePlus later released the Oxygen OS. They have the partnership in India with Yu the Micromax owned brand. Micromax filed a legal suite on OnePlus in India to stop sales of Cyanogen moded OnePlus One as they claimed they are the sole partners of Cyanogen in India.
Now the news is that tie-up between Cyanogen and Micromax may not last long and may break in near future. (There was a similar news in the past too about Micromax and Cyanogen souring relationship).
Lenovo Zuk Z1
The smartphone has a poly-plastic body with a metallic edge around the corners to make the looks distinguishing. There is no mention of name Lenovo on the smartphone anywhere, but it carries the new sub-brand name Zuk at the back.
The smartphone has a physical home button like the Samsung smartphones, which also has a fingerprint reader for ease of locking-unlocking.
The 5.5-inch smartphone has a display resolution of 1920*1080 with 401 PPI. The other major point of differentiation with the new Zuk 1 is it has USB Type C charging port, similar to the one we have first seen on the Apple MacBook this year.
The smartphone will be able to make full use of USB type C 3.0 port with Lenovo also planning to launch a type C port earphone which will offer better sound quality to the device.
The smartphone’s key highlight is the 4100 mAH Li-ion battery which offers more than a day’s battery life with modest to heavy usage.
The smartphone has a Sony IMX214 sensor based 13 MP rear camera which also comes with OIS (optical image stabilization). The front camera is also fitted keeping selfie lovers in mind with 8 MP resolution.
The Smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and it also has 3 GB RAM essential for multitasking and playing games.
The smartphone runs on the latest Google OS Android Lollipop and also has custom ZUI. The ZUI supports quick gestures and easy customization features.
The Smartphone has an 8.9 mm thickness and weighs 175 grams which is a bit heavy. The Dual Sim smartphone supports high-speed 4G LTE network along with the native support for the 3G/2G data.
The internal storage is massive with 64 GB capacity. The smartphone will be available in white and grey colors and will go on sale starting 18 August 2015 in China.
Outside of China nothing so far has been confirmed for the launch of ZUK brand and the new Zuk Z1.
