LG’s latest smartphone worthy of a little hype is now available on Flipkart for a price tag close to Rs. 15,200. The smartphone has a slightly curved display (curved at 3000R) which makes the display look better when viewing the screen.
LG has made the display on lines of the LG G Flex which was it’s flexible curved smartphone, but the Magna does not posses a flexible display screen. LG Magna’s display measures 5.0 inches and has a HD resolution(1280*720) with a pixel density of 294. The specs mentioned on Flipkart are wrong and you can cross check on the official LG website.
LG describes the curved display as “Get yourself noticed with a unique design that allows for maximum style with the allure of a minimalist curve.”
There are many other smartphones like the Xiaomi Mi4 and and Mi4i, Micromax latest Yureka Plus, Lenovo K3 Note which offer good Full hd display for a budget lower than 15 K. The display is the most relevant part of the smartphone, as we spend most of the time watching the screen, what is inside is of little less importance; compared to how the display looks.
The other good branded smartphones you can look at buying are the latest Samsung Galaxy J5 and J7.
The LG Magna may be a little over priced compared to the Chinese counter parts, but again you get the assurance of a better brand and quality if you are spending a little extra money on the mobile.
On the camera front LG has been doing good (LG G4) and some goodness spills over the Magna as well. The front camera is a 5 MP shooter with gesture assisted clicks and a wide angle lense, without front flash support.
The rear camera is good 8 MP lens with Autofocus, LED Flash, Geo tagging features. The mega pixels are important but not the decider for a good image quality, 8 MP LG Magna can beat some of the low cost 13 MP camera smartphones, without a hitch.
The LG Magna has 2540 mAH battery capacity which is adequate to run the smartphone for long hours. With modest usage you will be able to sail through the day without need of charging the smartphone again.
LG Magna boasts of a 1 Watt speaker which offers crystal clear sound quality and you can easily hear songs without need to connect Magna to an external speaker. The smartphone also comes with the knock code, which gives you ability to unlock the device with double taps. The volume key is at the back, which can be awkward for some users.
The smartphone is powered by the Mediatek MT6582 Quad Core processor clocked at 1.3 Ghz and is coupled with 1 GB of Ram. The ram is a bit less frankly compared to some of the 2 GB RAM mobiles available in this price range. The LG Magna runs on latest android version the Android Lollipop 5.0 and most likely LG will roll out the Android M when it comes out, however nothing is confirmed yet.
The smartphone has 3G/2G data connectivity, though it misses out on the 4G bandwagon.
The smartphone has 8 GB internal storage and option to expand it to 32 GB using a mico-sd card.
Verdict – Specs wise there are better and cheaper options available, LG has kept price a little higher to my liking. May be Flipkart gods can shower some discounts. However, if you are an LG fan and want to buy something which is different(with an unearthly curved display). Need to stand out of crowd (everyone else is buying Chinese specs monsters), LG Magna can be an option to explore.
