LG V20 Offers Incredible HiFi Sound and Android Nougat 7.0

The South Korean technology giant unveiled the LG V20, their latest Flagship smartphone back in September 2016. Now the smartphone is going to be available in the Indian market from today, 6th December 2016.

LG has priced the V20 at Rs. 54,999 which is lower than the Google Pixel XL and the recently launched Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe. The LG V20 will be bundled with the  B&O PLAY headset which is worth Rs. 18000. LG is also bundling a premium SF coated back cover free with the smartphone.

Amazon will also be offering exchange benefit upto Rs. 20,000 on the old smartphones if you plan to exchange it and get the new LG V20.

The LG V20 comes with some distinguishing features which separates it from the crowd – Incredible Sound ,  Latest OS Android 7.0 from Google and a Dual Rear Camera.

With the ill fated Samsung Note 7, getting recalled world wide, the opportunity is large for LG and Apple to bank on lost sales of Note 7.LG V20 Offers Incredible HiFi Sound and Android Nougat 7.0

Coming to LG V20, first things first, What’s So special about the Sound – The LG V20 is made for Audiophiles and may be people like me who are obsessed to get better sound from the smartphone, which my Samsung S7 absolutely fails to deliver.

The LG V20 comes with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC (with support for flac, did, diff and alac file formats), HD Audio Recorder, and B&O PLAY speakers.

Not only does the DAC improves the sound output to the speakers and earphones but vastly improves the sound recording.  Your videos will have better sound quality compared to the normal recording on other smartphones. (Presumably we can use it make some cool Youtube Videos or family videos).

Android Nougat 7.0 – Android Nougat 7.0 brings the more polished Android Experience to the LG V20 buyers.  Also it is the first smartphone to run the latest Google OS, adds to the charm of staying ahead of the curve.

The Android 7.0 along with the LG UX 5.0 will bring some special features like search will show results from the installed Apps and Dual window display, quick reply to messages, quick settings access to name a few. It also comes with features like Double tap to access the last app you were using. You can read more about all uplifting features of Android 7.0 here.

LG V20 Dual Display – LG V20 retains the small second display which LG introduced in the LG V10.  The smaller display above the larger 5.7 inch Quad HD display, is useful to work as always on display panel and shows notifications and App shortcuts.

And LG says the tiny screen this time has better contrast and view compared to the V-10. The LG V20 comes with IPS LCD Quad HD display (2560*1440) pixels and a 5.7 inch enormous screen size.

Dual Rear Camera – The smartphone has 2 rear camera with 8 Megapixel resolution and 135 degree width and 16 Mega pixel with 75 degree width. The dual rear camera’s work to together to capture wider shots with ease and have triple auto focus system ( laser , phase detection, contrast auto-focus) working together to create fantastic images.

The Dual rear camera can record 4K videos and with exceptional sound quality using the extraordinary DAC for 24 Bit sound. LG also states the camera comes with Steady Shot 3.0 technology which essentially is a fancy way of saying optical image stabilization.

The LG V20 has a wide angle 120 degree camera at the front which comes with 5 Megapixel lens to click selfies or groupies with your friends.

Design – LG has finally given up on the modular design at least for the LG V20. There are no friends or mods to be used with it. Ohh but it does come with a removable battery like good old days. Just open the back metallic cover made from Aero grade steel and you have access to the battery. The front side and bottom has poly-carbonate head and shin which LG says improve the resistance to breakage and falls, making the V20 more durable and long lasting. It may also help with better signal and connectivity too.

The LG V20 will come in 3 color variants –  titan (dark gray), silver, and pink.

Performance – The LG V20 ticks all the boxes with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.1 GHz and comes with Adreno 530 GPU to offer great gaming performance. Notably, the new Oneplus 3T and the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe comes with more powerful Snapdragon 821 processor.

The smartphone has got 4 GB of Ram. The storage space is 32 / 64 GB depending on the variant you wish to purchase.

The storage can be expanded to 256 GB using a micro-sd card. The smartphone has connectivity options including 4G / VOLTE support.

The Battery is large with 3200 mAH capacity and also comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

Initial Thoughts – The LG V20 looks promising as has been many LG products in the past few years. We will do more digging around the user experience , astounding sound quality and camera performance when the LG V20  comes to us.
