Chinese Billionaire Wang Jianlin (richest man in China) son has gifted two Gold Apple watches close to Rs. 17,00,000 (Seventeen lakhs) to his pet dog and posted these pictures. The pictures first surfaced on the Chinese equivalent to twitter the Weibo.
Wang Sicong, the 27-year-old son of Wang clicked pictures of his pet dog wearing two limited edition of Apple watches on the front paws of the pet dog. The 42-millimeter Apple Watch Edition with white sports band retails for ¥88,800 ($14,318) in mainland China, meaning the value of the pooch’s new bling exceeds $28,000.
Such display of wealth raised a storm on the internet and made many people angry and a lot of Apple enthusiasts were unhappy with Wang for belittling the Apple watch. Wang is the son of Wang Jianlin, the chairman of property giant and conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group, who is believed to be the richest man in China, with a fortune of more than $40 billion.
This was the post by Wang on the Chinese Social Media Website
Wang posted this on the Dog’s Weibo account I could have bought 4 apple watches for each of my four big legs.
“”I have new watches! I’m supposed to have four watches since I have four long legs. But that seems too tuhao so I kept it down to two, which totally fits my status. Do you have one?”
In a country like China where the average income is below $5000 per year such extravaganza and disrespect for money show of extreme wealth has caused outrage. One of the readers posted on Weibo, “I should live worse than a dog,” while most other responses were filled with expletives.
Another Weibo User Said ” When wealth Goes into someone’s head, they become utterly foolish”
Another Weibo Female User wrote “ It would have been better if I would have been Wang’s bitch, at least would have managed two watches”
I am not sure what is your reaction to reading this, but I was shocked to read it. We have such rich show-offs who are spending lakhs of rupees gifting apple watches to dogs and then posting on social media just to get attention.
Why Wang would have done it is not clear, may to get the attention of the entire Chinese Weibo Community or get the global media attention is not clear, or he just wanted to have some fun.
Whatever it is, one thing I am sure Tim Cook(Apple’s Ceo) would not be happy with this after all Apple never designed the watch for Wang’s Dog!
